Not great but compelling enough

Warning: Spoilers
It helps that I like Josh Harnett. If this were not a true film, I would be rolling my eyes. The fact that someone at his lowest point does something so incredibly stupid is challenging, but that's what addiction does. I can't imagine surviving what he did, and that alone made me pull for him. Since I didn't know his story, I was not sure he was going to make it. He had his demons, he paid for them. I can't imagine myself there, but perhaps we were all one poor decision away at some point in our life.

Five More Minutes (2021 TV Movie)
A Hallmark gem!
21 November 2021
Hallmark movies come and go. I love them, but generally would give a 6-8 rating. This one gets a 9. It's a sweet story (aren't they all?), but the actors are all good, the plot a step above and the ending brought me to tears. Reminds me of the old Hallmark Hall of Fame movies of long ago. It's good enough to DVR and save. I think even the Hallmark Christmas movie haters will enjoy this one!

Stamp of a Killer (1987 TV Movie)
Loved this movie from so many years ago
21 October 2019
I was happy to find I could buy a DVD because I loved this movie back when it aired, It comes off as a made for TV movie. Not extremely polished or the best dialogue. But the drama of the movie was there, it was tense and there was good chemistry between Jimmy Smits and Judith Light. If I saw it for the first time today I might rate it lower but there is a nostalgia involved for me.

Love in the Sun (2019 TV Movie)
I have never bailed on a Hallmark movie so fast!
21 June 2019
I watch all of the Hallmark movies, and I almost always finish them and like the vast majority. This started so flat that I decided to come here to see what others had to say. Dismal. I still gave it more time, but it was not worth another 90 minutes of my life. I will pick another. The acting was stiff and amateurish. The dialogue was boring. The scenery was pretty. Hallmark movies all follow the same premise, they are clean and always end with the one kiss. Formula, yes. But at least most are interesting

Possibly my favorite Hallmark Christmas
9 December 2018
I really love this movie. There's humor, romance, conflict, warmth and sentimentality. What's not to love about Henry Winkler? And there is real chemistry between the lead characters. A movie that even your husband may enjoy!

A Veteran's Christmas (2018 TV Movie)
A very sweet movie
9 December 2018
I'm a Hallmark junkie, and there have been some movies this year that 10 minutes in I was bored. Not this one. It totally grabbed me and kept me entertained. EXCEPT....the lead male. Throughout the whole movie I felt like I was watching him impersonating Tom Cruise acting in this movie. His mannerisms, the way he would angle his head and most of all the big grin and the laugh. It was comical at first, but got annoying as it went on. Am I the only one who saw this? LOL, anyway, it was a good movie. Predictable, of course...they all are. But I love them anyway!

Into the Wild (2007)
Held my interest despite hypocrisy
8 May 2018
The story of a college graduate who "rebels against society" and becomes a drifter/adventurer. One of the things I felt the movie was trying to choke down my throat was the wastefulness and uselessness of society. I did not read the book. But the fact that this was produced by Sean Penn is typical and at the same time comical. There's a song in the film which talks about how much money do we need, and how much space do we need before it becomes too much. That we take and use too much. And yet a quick search shows Mr Penn to be worth $150 million. And I might be wrong but I bet he has a pretty big house. This is where I find the hypocrisy. I don't like to be preached at. As much as he is rebelling against society, he is also rebelling against his parents and his upbringing. The movie is visually interesting with diverse scenery. The acting is very good. The script is good. Worth a watch.

I loved it!

The original Pirates movie will always be the best because it was new and unexpected. I thought 2,3 and 4 were OK. Passable movies. But this one felt more like the original. First, it had a plot...always a good place to start. There was action, humor and enough violence to keep the males awake. It did a good job of wrapping up the series. To be sure, another movie at this point would be a HUGE mistake. Time to call it a good run and put it to bed. I don't know why it has gotten the bad press, and the current 29% tomato meter is much too low IMO. Just go see it and enjoy!
