Road House (2024)

To be honest I expected more...

Because of Gyllenhal I expected the movie to be... better.

Yes it was kind of entertaining, especially having Swayze Roadhouse in mind. Perfect to watch a Friday evening after a hard week of work and you don't want to use your brain too much.

I do watch MMA so of course I was also curious about Conor. He pretty much played himself when he is in fighter mood and want to show off. However he did act himself quite poorly.

If Conor will show up more on the screen I hope it will be in a more serious MMA context and not as a C-class villain.

Hard to say exactly why this movie was made in this way, if it was mainly a "fun" job or if it was a "make as much cash as possible with as little job as possible" or Amazon Prime wanted to penetrate some other markets...

Rating 5 because of Jake, nostalgia and easy entertainment.

Dune: Part Two (2024)

Dune 1 & 2 are probably the best sci-fi movies ever...

Yes, Dune 1 & 2 are probably the best sci-fi movies ever. I can't really come up with anything else that would beat these anyway.

Part Two was a nice continuation to Part One, however I felt the last part of the movie could have been better or maybe it just went too fast. Without spoiling its hard to explain. Also missed some more insight about the mother and a lot of other things as well... Imagine if this could have been a 20 episode serie with same quality!

Anyhow visually and the main cast were just excellent. I did expect more out of the emperor Christofer Walken.

Just love the tonality of the entire movie and the sound and music made it masterful.

Please more of these "adult" epic sci-fi movies and series!

Arcane (2021– )

Please let there be more anime like this!

I was watching this and my 14 yo son passed by and was surprised - are you watching an animated movie??!

Then my wife came by as well and same reaction of surprise from her...

This is probably one of the best animated movie/serie I have seen. Beautifully made, great story and cool charachters.

On Netflix I think Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai are the best anime for now.

Too bad it takes so long time for season 2.

If its as good as season 1 I will change the grade to a 10!

Would love to see more anime this well made!

If you like dystopic sci-fi and well made animation then you will love it.

And now it should be enough written from me about my thoughts of this excellent anime.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023– )

A quite well done B-serie...

Yes it's quite well made and yes it's still a B-serie.

I find that Netflix and Apple+ productions have quite high lowest standard. The Monarch is on the lower side from Apple+.

I would categories this serie for the "family" or youngsters 12-25 y. I think for the younger kids 7-11 y its too much nonsense dialogues and too little monsters and for older guys like me its a bit too much nonsense dialogues but more importantly it misses on the details.

For instance when they are in a really cold area (Antarctic winter blizzard cold) Kurt is running around with the hood on his jacket unused and the girls have their jackets open like 10 cm down from the neck. One of the girls are seemingly about to die of hypothermia but still no one buttons up her jacket... and they are all looking good while being hunted an freezing their asses off...

Well I guess this serie will please some and annoy some.

It will not be seen as a great one, in general.

The Sandman (2022– )

Don't listen to the haters (in general guys who read original)...

Yes it is a bit uneven, some episodes and scenes are master pieces and some could have been worked on some more or skipped but overall its a very pleasant contribution in the jungle of mass produced streaming series!

I rate it 9 (more correct would be a 8) because the haters rate it below 4 - which is ridiculous, but as usual its mainly guys who knows the original stories from the world of books and comics and can't accept a streaming serie is a bit different. Happens all the time...

Anyway if you like fantasy, give it a shot. I promise you have seen worse!

Looking forward to a season 2.

Dune (2021)

A great sci-fi for adults

Both my wife and I enjoyed this movie and longing for the next to come.

Just too bad it wasn't a lavish long serie with even more developed characters.

My 11 year old son would most likely think this is too slow with too little action and kaboom...

Reviewers who thinks this one is unnecessary because other versions are already made and because of that giving this one low rating - please don't listen to them. This version is so much better and so much more pleasant to watch. "Originals" are not always best, especially when it comes to movies.

After seeing Part Two I now change my rating from a 9 to a 10 also for Part One. Best sci-fi movies ever so far...

Messiah (2020)

No season 2 ???!!!

This is easily a top 10 serie of all time for me. Very very sad to understand there will not be a season 2.

A must see for EVERYONE.

I think Netflix is very weak here and not want to upset some religious groups and by that maybe lose some subscribers...

The Queen's Gambit (2020)

I enjoy chess and am fascinated by great players but I don't think one need to understand the game at all to really enjoy this fantastic serie. I would have loved to see at least one more season...

The Stand (2020–2021)

A time ago it became a trend to film with hand held shaking camera (or maybe it was not hand held but shaking anyhow) and like many times it did serve a purpose for those who did this because it was a part of the film (like seeing from the actors viewpoint etc) but suddenly a bunch of movies started to use this technic with no other purpose then it was a trend to film shaky...

Now I can see its a trend in jumping in times and not have the story in a chronological order. For some movies it does have a meaningful purpose but for other movies it doesn't have any meaningful purpose at all.

WHY destroy a potentially epic tv-serie with this non-chronological order..??? Is it because the makers wanted to add their "own" artistic feeling because of their ego? Or was it because they felt mr Kings book needed an improvement in story telling...? Or was it just because its a trend in jumping the chronological order...?

Anyway I think most of us can agree the end result became a big disappointment and a show that potentially could receive 8-9 in rating (because of the fantastic book and the times we are living in today) is now receiving a rating that will burry this show to the place of the forgotten and be around shows that could have been...

Gangs of London (2020– )

Perhaps sometimes a bit too violent... and sometimes also a bit too unrealistic violence, otherwise a very good serie with exciting plot and great cast. Nice to see new good shows with - for me - new faces, however I think the GoT lady made her role very good as well.

Looking forward to season 2!

Revised after seeing one episode of season 2. From 7 to 2. Not worth the time.

((Review after season 1: After I saw first two episodes I wrote a review and gave this serie an 8 but now when I have seen the entire season I have to revise the score to a 7. I dont really know what it is but somehow I dont get hooked... maybe its the actors (Joel and Martha are so-so) or how the story is put together its hard to say but the bottom line is I dont get hooked like with series Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Game of thrones, Billions, Startup and West World. Visually its nice and it shows they spent quite a lot of money, but its not enough.

You guys who comperes everything whith the original books - please stop do that and try to see the movies as movies and books as books.))

So far it's promising.

I have seen two episodes and I find it quite entertaining even though I'm not totally hooked yet. Visually it's very nice but some of the actors, dialogs and overall performance is so so... Compering for example with West World this serie is noticeable behind when it comes to putting together all the different components.

I will for sure see the entire season and then get back for an update of this review. I believe and hope it will improve (when director and actors gotten warmed up)...

For those who compering movies with original books - please stop do that. Try to see the movie/serie for what it is and not compere every bit.

For those who rate this serie less than a 5 I just have to say - get real. It's perhaps not a masterpiece but it sure is well made with some stunning scenery and worth a 5 or more no matter what your personal taste or hook ups might be...

StartUp (2016–2018)

If you like Billions, Ozark and Silicon Valley you will most likely love this one. For some reason this series is very little promoted and it seem like lots of people doesn't know about it (I stumbled on it). Well, I guess its because its not a Netflix or HBO production...

Jason Bourne (I) (2016)

Worthless filming

Extremely annoying how they treated the camera and editing in this movie. Too fast, too many close ups, too shaky, too many zoom in and out, too many fast jumps between different scenes, too many close ups on necks instead of faces and so on and so on.

I know what they try to accomplish but it's just too much and extremely poorly executed.

I hope the director and the camera guy never get the chance to work with an action movie again.

Probably worth slightly more than a 1 but I feel obliged to compensate for all the wrong high scores .
