Logan (2017)
Speechless
Someone had a very dark day when they wrote this script. It's beautiful, depressing, and heartbreaking all at once. To see these characters who lived and fought through so much as beaten down, hopeless versions of themselves is almost unbearable. I loved the movie but I don't think I could ever watch it again.

Misunderstood
While this wasn't the best sci-fi film I've seen, I think it definitely deserves a higher ranking than most of the reviews here give it, which all seemed to be expecting something more stereotypical.
It is not an action film, nor futuristic. There's no threat to overcome, no adversary to face. It aims for realism, to try and connect the viewer to the characters and make them wonder what THEY would do.
If you're after flashy effects and advanced technology, this isn't a movie for you. It shows genuine reactions from two average people who suddenly find themselves alone in the world with no explanation to what happened or why.
A very good film, but not if you're after a cheap thrill.
The Remains (2016)
There must be better things to spend money on...
I wish I could give this a lower score.
Completely lacking in originality. I feel like the creators of this movie opened The Big Book of Horror Movie Clichés, blindly pointed at a dozen or so pages and put them all together.
The actors switched between overacting and looking so uninterested they were ready to walk off the set. The characters had absolutely no depth. The plot was typical - recent widower moves to a new neighborhood with his kids, the angsty rebellious teenage daughter and the two token younger kids. The house is beautiful and old and suspiciously cheap. Creepy things start happening, dad rationalizes. Generic evil entity takes control of the kids, kids beat dad to death in the spooky attic.
Honestly, it was a relief when they all died in the end.
