The Tomorrow War (2021)
#TENorONE - Its a TEN
I really enjoyed this. Its just the right amount of Sci-Fi, Action and Comedy. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good film to watch.
The Green Knight (2021)
#TENorONE - Its a ONE
There is no way I would recommend anyone watch this. Its just slow, weird and unenjoyable. My girlfriend was tired and left half way though having not enjoyed it and it only got worse in the second half.
I'm quite a nerd and had this been half good I'm sure I would have enjoyed it. Its wasn't and I didn't.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
#TENorONE - Its a One
Its worse than the last one. Thoroughly disappointed.
I just have no idea how DC are making such rubbish when Marvel has put out there the blueprint for modern super hero films. Last good DC was Nolan's Batman Trilogy. Everything since has been bad (except maybe the first Wonderwoman).
While watching this movie I was already formulating a review and the statement I kept thinking of was "I would put money on it that at least 1 recent Nicholas Cage film is better than this" And that's saying something!
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Not as good as the first
I only Score 10 or 1, so this film gets 1. It's obviously not that bad (it's certainly no Bad Boy Bubby).
I loved the first - love most Marvel films (I'm 37 years old and I still get goose bumps when the comic pages start to flick at the beginning of any movie).
For me, this sequel lacked the humour of the first; struggles like any other 2nd of a trilogy to stand on its own (simply being the middle film dictates that you need no introduction, and can have no ultimate conclusion until the 3rd movie); and was missing some of the characters I expect to see (no real spoilers here, but don't expect to see Coulson, Potts or Foster - plus there is very little Fury, Falcon or Rhodes).
I didn't like the new additions - and I didn't like the inevitable Super Hero struggling with their inner demons that any 2nd film also requires.
With all that said, while for me the 2nd Lord of the Rings film is the worst stand alone, it is perhaps the best film when watching all 3 together. So perhaps this will be my favourite once I have the 3rd, but for now, I am really disappointed.
Thrive: What on Earth Will It Take? (2011)
Interesting? Naive? Irresponsible?
I started off highly interested in what I was about to watch. By the end I was so angry. It is highly irresponsible to tell people everything that is wrong with the world yet offer no explanation as to why any of it is necessary and, perhaps more importantly, the consequences of it ceasing to work. This film talks about alternative energy suppression, which is incredibly sad, yet fails to talk about the impact free energy would have by taking trillions in currency away from the world's government. This film talks about the control few have over the many, which sounds scary, yet fails to point out that every business, organisation and even family works in that exact way. This film talks about aliens and constantly draws comments from a man that claimed to be the son of God. Had great potential, but scares me that many watching will consider it insightful.
Gravity (2010)
Wow, its really, really bad!
As soon as the first episode starts you cannot be helped for thinking you are watching one of those God awful day time amercian soaps. The sets are bad, the filming is bad, the actors are bad and thats not just due to the script being bad. I nearly gave up about 5 minutes in, but a gratuatous "night, night kitty" arse shot bought them a while longer. When its bad, it really has nothing going for it, but at times I found myself thinking of one of those dreary Cronenberg films like "Spiders" or the one with the rabbits. But unfortunately I do not mean this to be seen as a positive, because Cronenberg only gets away with it because of some of the excellent films he has made. IMDb lists this program as a comedy / drama. In my opinion the comedy is not funny and the drama less than dramatic. Avoid it, it cant possibly last.
Shutter Island (2010)
Oh my God, what a huge horrendous pile of poo!
I always fear that preconceptions and/or high expectations can cause a film to do worse than it deserves. For instance, walk in to a movie that you know nothing about, and more often than not it will surprise you. On the other hand, walk into a film directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, based on a novel written by Dennis Lehane (who wrote "Gone Baby Gone" and "Mystic River") and a supporting cast that includes Mark Ruffalo, Max Von Sydow, Sir Ben Kingsley and Emily Mortimer, you are almost certain to be disappointed. However, this may have been true with other films but when it comes to a Scorsese/DiCaprio collaboration (for example Gangs of New York, The Departed and The Aviator)I expect a little bit more, and I expect the film to deliver something. This film sadly does not deliver, it does not excite and it does not deserve to be in IMDb's top 250 (which at the time of writing it does). I can only conclude that the masses have decided not to bet against a previously assumed sure thing, and instead vote along with everyone else rather than question the latest Scorsese/DiCaprio collaboration. The film opens on a boat, and within minutes we see DiCaprio and Ruffalo standing on the deck talking. It was from this point onwards that I was disappointed and began to expect very little from the rest of the film. Blue screen? Green screen? Whatever they use, they used it here and it looked horrible. And if nothing else, I have always found that of the Scorsese films I didn't necessarily enjoy in the past I would at least walk out at the end saying how beautiful and authentic everything looked. Well not here. Seriously disappointing. Don't waste ya time!
How to Make It in America (2010)
I tried to hang in there, but 4 episodes was quite enough!
I tried to hang in there, but 4 episodes was quite enough! Produced by Mark Wahlberg had me thinking of Entourage, which I came to late, but caught up quick because I loved it so much. However as far as "How to Make it in America" goes, 4 episodes appears to be as much as I can take. I am a fan of Lake Bell, and Bryan Greenberg for what I had seen of him, however this show appears to be about nothing. Luis Guzmán I had heard had the best character, well in a show with no characters worth tuning in for perhaps he does, but that is saying very little. No one is bad, I am not writing this to blather on about how poor the acting is, on the contrary I have nothing bad to say about anyone in it, it's just that after 4 episodes I have nothing good to say either.
The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009)
Poor, poor sequel
I'm not sure if it was the bad acting, poor cinematography or just bad directing, but this was a sequel that should never have been made. As a huge fan of the original I went into this movie with high expectations, and was let down at almost every turn. Norman Reedus did well to carry on where he left off, and Billy Connolly had some moments, but Sean Patrick Flanery appears to have forgotten how to act and may very well have had a botched face lift since the last film. Julie Benz gave probably the strongest performance, though for the life of me I did not recognise her at all, yet Clifton Collins Jr. failed miserably in replacing David Della Rocco's character While watching the film I was already preparing my review, hoping that my opinion would change by the end, and I was most looking forward to slating the writer and director for so badly following in Troy Duffy's footsteps, well at least until the credits started rolling and I discovered that Troy Duffy wrote and directed this film as well. In my opinion fans of the original are best off staying far, far away from this film. As for those that have yet to see the original, go watch it, then stay far, far away from this god awful movie.
Chapter 27 (2007)
The Catcher in The Rye
I have read a few of the comments already posted, and am amazed that no one has mentioned the fact that this movie if effectively telling the story of Holden Caulfield. I have heard in the past that many people have looked at turning The Catcher in The Rye into a movie, but have found it difficult as most of the book is spent inside Holden's head. Chapter 27, so named because The Catcher in The Rye has only 26 chapters, is telling the story of The Catcher in The Rye as well was the Story of Mark David Chapman who was apparently obsessed with the book. This is a dark film, and very few people will leave the cinema with a big smile on their face, but I certainly recommend seeing it, especially anyone who has read The Catcher in The Rye.

Welcome back Jack.
I have just this minute finished watching the first 4 episodes of the new series, and without giving anything away, I am happy to report that this series looks to be just as exciting as its 5 predecessors. Excellent! Not to be missed.
I admit that half way through the first episode I was more than a little upset, but by the end of the episode I was more than happy with where the story looked to be going.
And, with all the previous series I was completely wrong about where the story was going.
However, for those of you out there that have not seen some or all of the previous series, I strongly recommend you go back and watch all of them in order. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Like millions of others out there, I know that Jack Bauer is probably the
