River Monsters (2009)
The fishing sequences are very good
This is a great fishing show apart from the overdramatization, which for me is a major negative.
Some drama scenes are annoying and plain unbelievable. The plot of every episode starts with a mystery man-eating monster but in the end there is no monster (duh) except for some seriously big fish. I guess this helps attracts non-fishermen to a show that would otherwise attract mostly fishermen.
On a positive note, the host is a good fisherman with excellent knowledge of the fish he targets and the ecosystems they live in. This portion of the show is by itself highly educational and enjoyable to watch.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Epic dogfights
What a movie! Well worth the wait. The attention to detail in every scene is evident. Even the sounds coming from the cockpit are very realistic, especially during Maverick's simulation of the mission. All the details add up to an one-of-a-kind cinematic experience.
Beckett (2021)
What did I just watch?
Despite the trivial scenario, this movie could have been ok if the direction wasn't awful. The film was shot in some of the most beautiful areas in Greece but with no aereal shots the viewer sees absolutely nothing. Come on, how much does drone filming cost this days!
The Mandalorian (2019)
This is Star Wars
Very good story telling, excellent soundtrack and great effects which have an old school flavour. An instant favourite.
Murder Mystery (2019)
3 stars for the locations
I have never wrote a review before but I felt compelled to save others from watching this waste of time movie. Mediocre acting, terrible plot, not funny at all. I gave it 3 stars for the locations.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Hands down the best movie I have ever seen
The first time I watched this movie I was immersed in a prison world where survival is on the daily schedule and hope means everything. I was literally breathless for 2 hours. I just cannot believe how this movie was so undervalued when initially released. This is hands down the best movie I have ever seen. This is one movie where the ending does not really matter. It is the journey that will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will wish it never ends.
