ARQ (2016)
There are a lot of reviews
Basically, the movie ended at 1:07 and then continued on with a past timeline and yeah, a lot of people got it and a lot of people didn't. Some of those who got it are positive about it, some are not. That's okay.
Personally I loved it (not as crazy as that Predestination loop but definitely beats Groundhog Day). And I actually would positively like to believe it is not as loopy (pardon the pun) as it seems.
The final video at 1:24 is cut off with slightly more footage. Maybe it was meant to convey the full video that was cut off at 1:07, showing how this is an infinite loop they cannot escape from. Yet I am hopeful that when Hannah wakes up first in the next iteration, they might have made slightly more progress than the last 9 loops of iteration.
I gave this a 9* rating because nothing beats Predestination, no matter how loopy it gets.
La Corazonada (2020)
Great movie
I'm not sure why the other reviewers are dissing this film. It was one of the better detective movies that keeps feeding you with the right amount of information/misinformation, right from the start and one needs to keep remembering facts from earlier on, If you like movies like Memento, Predestination, don't miss this one.
I also watched this before Perdido and I think this is so much better. It was easy to figure out Perdido but this one, everything is shown from the beginning yet nothing is inferred until the end. Then all the loose ends are tied together and it all makes sense.
I did not watch the dubbed version of the movie but the subbed version.
Sandome no satsujin (2017)
Read the reviews and decided to add mine because most (if not all) got it wrong.
I assume everyone who is reading this has watched the movie. The title became clear to me when there was a flashback that included Sakie and Misumi killing the father. That was when I realized that Sakie had a hand in killing her father. However, this was changed when Misumi told Shigemori that he was not at the river bank and he did not kill the father. Flashback to the driver who earlier said that the father had a wallet that smelled of petrol already. Misumi stole his wallet already with petrol and Sakie later killed him when he tried to rape her by the river bank again. I thought Shigemori understood this when he wanted to change the plea of Misumi. Even Misumi thought Shigemori understood this when he shook hands with Shigemori after judgement - because he thought Shigemori believed him.
The ending of the movie is the saddest, when Shigemori went back to visit Misumi. It totally broke Misumi's heart (and mine), when Shigemori confessed that he only changed the plea because he thought Misumi wanted to protect Sakie from the embarrassment of rape. Because of that, Misumi changed his story again, which he does every time people do not believe in what he is saying. "It must be as you say it is" cuts right to the heart of a person whom nobody believed, even Shigemori. Misumi never wanted to protect Sakie, he just wanted the truth to be told and believed. Look at how he did not even exchange glances at the guilt-stricken Sakie when he was led out of courtroom.
The third murder was committed by everyone who did not believe in Misumi's innocence and story, everyone who judged that he killed, including Shigemori and Misumi who didn't tell the whole truth.
I had to write this after going through the reviews and finding out that so many reviewers finished the movie still not believing Misumi did not kill.
Speed Racer (2008)
Better than the trailers
I was planning to skip this movie after the childish looking trailers, not quite the Matrix standard of movie. However after I caught it, a little by accident coz there was nothing else more interesting at the cinemas, I was glad I watched it. It is far better than what I expected. It is a touching family movie, coupled with anime brought to life, and all the touches of Wachowski brothers. Well, sometimes a bit too much as the fighting scenes looked like they were choreographed by the same guys from Matrix (without the slow motion). It's just a great movie; no need to describe too much here. You have to watch it to experience it.
