Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022)
Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris 1992 is MUCH BETTER!
The title says it all! Watch Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris 1992 starring Angela Lansbury, Diana Rigg, and Omar Sharif and you'll see why this 2022 "adaptation" is overly and unnecessarily dramatic! This movie managed to lose a lot of the sweet innocence from the original 1992 movie. It would be so lovely if people could remake a classic with better technology that's available today but not butcher the original story. I can tell most of the reviewers have never seen the 1992 movie or read the book because if they did the rating for this movie would be much lower than 7 stars. The only reason I'm giving this movie 4 stars is because it's in high definition and available to stream.
The Hardy Boys (2020)
80's needs to be done correctly in order to sell the illusion.
So far I am enjoying the show but there are a few issues with the 80's set dressing that needs to be corrected. The story takes place in the 80's but there are pieces of technology in the set design that break the illusion. In episode 1, the boys and their dad move to their aunts home in Bridgeport. The TV in her living room is an early 2000's Samsung Dynaflat CRT TV. In her attic there's a early 2000's VHS-C camcorder in the background of one of the shots. Also in the attic the boys use an RCA VR546, silver, center loading VCR from 2002 to watch some old home videos. All CRT TV's from that era have a very distinctive bump in the front and flat CRT's didn't arrive until the early 2000's. All VCR's from the 80's (if front loading and not top loading) always loaded from the left side of the VCR and not the center. A simple google search by whoever is doing the set dressing could help them avoid these mistakes. Overall if you can overlook these and some other errors the show is entertaining.
NOS4A2 (2019)
Snails move faster than this storyline!
I've heard of a slow burn but this is down right terrible. If you don't mind watching a series that isn't going anywhere and moves as slowly as possible you might enjoy this.
Utopia (2020)
The fastest way to Utopia is to NOT watch this series.
Watching this was more awful than seeing the Trump White House handle the current pandemic! If Amazon wants to waste money producing lack luster content they should just buy a real news network and include the daily feed with Amazon Prime!
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
All the negative reviewers clearly don't understand Roddenberrys vision!
Greater human evolution and ascension cannot occur without change!!!! Clearly this series is new and different from any of it's predecessors. Like many things in life, it's not meant to merely mimic or copy something because that would be pointless and would not depict the future at all! If you like the original series, TNG, Voyager, etc, definitely don't expect Picard to be exactly the same because if you do you will be disappointed. If you approach Star Trek: Picard with an open mind you will find it to be an entertaining new chapter in the Star Trek saga.
My Dog Skip (2000)
I cry everytime I see this movie!
Anyone who's ever been lucky enough to have been loved by a dog will love this movie! A tender story that's so relatable it tugs at your heart strings from the beginning. Have a box of Kleenex handy because you're gonna need it.
It (2017)
Half way through I realized it wasn't supposed to be a comedy
Seriously, the scariest movies are successful because the viewer is forced to use their own imagination. The original "IT" movie has scared viewers for decades now and it was rated PG-13 and made for broadcast TV on a much smaller budget! Watch the original to have nightmares. Watch this version for a good laugh.
A Wrinkle in Time (2018)
A Waste Of Time (2018)
You could put all the stars in the universe into this movie and it'll still be a complete waste of time. Whether you read the book or not, a movie script that is well written should easily draw the viewer in to the story. This movie does the complete opposite! Very poor screenplay adaptation and whoever directed this needs to direct laxative commercials since that's what you'll be needing after watching this. The visual effects were good and costumes were good but everything else is awful! My only positive is that I watched this on Netflix and didn't waste too much money watching it in the theater. Make sure your calculations are correct and you may be lucky enough to tesser yourself out of watching this horrible movie!
Magnum P.I. (2018)
What's Magnum about it????
Ok, seriously? I gave it a 1 star rating because you can't leave it blank. I really don't know where to begin! CBS thought they had problems with Moonves but if this Magnum P.I. revamp is any indication, the company has a lot of bigger problems. Who approved this remake and who was the target audience that screened it? Dreamers? First of all, the main character who's supposed to be Tom Sellecks, 6'4", Thomas Magnum is now a 40 year old, 5'9" Mexican, who seems to have something growing on his face that resembles a 1 week old chia pet, and trying to look 50? I'm all for being inclusive but, if you're going to take a classic, successful character you should at least try to keep their likeness believable! T.C. is still black, Rick is still white, but Magnum is Mexican? Secondly Higgins is now a female? Why change Higgins gender? If you recall the original series, Higgins was the wealthy, British guy with a heart of gold hiding behind his stiff upper lip English attitude. This female Higgins looks like she's eventually going to be Magnums love interest which just doesn't work! The pilot episode goes on to copy the beginning of the original pilot including the kayaking and even the doberman chase, the red Ferrari but all in all it's just not enough. I appreciate the nod to Hawaii Five-0 but even future tie in's to that great series won't change my opinion of this new Magnum. The original creator Donald P. Bellisario also created other amazing shows like, NCIS (13 years and still going!), JAG, Quantum Leap, Airwolf, just to name a few. I hope he didn't have anything to do with this version of Magnum P.I. It's a sad and desperate knockoff of the classic. Thank you CBS for wasting 42 minutes and 56 seconds of my life that I'll never get back!
