Barbarian (2022)
One of the best horror movies of the year
Barbarian is a movie that creeped me out for almost two hours which succeeded in creating a dark and tense mood since its first minutes.
I saw this movie without knowing a thing about it other than the IMDb's plot and I have to say that's the best way to watch it as even one single picture can ruin the experience for you.
The movie basically begins as a cliché but quickly takes an unexpected turn, leaving you shocked halfway through.
The acting is really good and the cinematography is beautiful. I also tought that the story could have been told as a miniseries composed by 3 or 4 episodes but I'm glad that it came out as a movie as it's far more condensed and well paced.
I can't deny that there are some classic clichés but I still very much liked this experience and in my opinion many horror lovers are gonna agree that this is one of 2022's best movies of this genre.
Speak No Evil (2022)
You let them do it.
While most people point to the lack of common sense and the stupidity of the parents as a downside, I think this is what the script was all about, and it becomes very clear especially at the end with that "Because you let me" line or also by that "Where were you?" question referred to the mother leaving her daughter alone during the night.
It's clear that there's an evil "worthiness test" going on from which they could've escaped but they failed, and what happened in the end was only the result of many missed opportunities.
In my opinion it was an enjoyable experience overall, which gave me a creepy and uncomfortable vibe throughout the entire movie and left me wondering with the "what if?".
Tenet (2020)
Enjoyed it the first time, loved it the second!
"Tenet" is a movie that really grows on you. It may disorient you at first as it brings you right into the action from the beginning but by the end you'll realize that everything has a meaning and you'll find yourself wanting to see the movie again to understand even more.
There are a lot of hidden details, really high rewatch value!
Dark: Das Paradies (2020)
It all makes sense in the end
There's no doubt that Dark is one of the best Netflix production so far. It would have been very easy to fall into the plot holes trap instead the authors managed to put together all the pieces of this giant puzzle and bring us a perfect ending. The third season has been amazing and I'll forever remember this series!
Defending Jacob: After (2020)
Forgettable ending to a great show
I really liked this show, the actors were all brilliant but I expected something different for the finale. After everything that's happened all the storylines got a very quick closure and the ending was forgettable.
I think they should have used more than one episode to wrap-up the plot, that way we'd have a more satisfying ending.
Still a very pleasant and gripping miniseries!
The Sopranos: D-Girl (2000)
Entire episodes of character development lead to this
When the main character appears for less than half episode and the story is still amazing and captivating that means the show is top-notch and goes on full steam.
This is what you get when you develop every character in a way that everyone has its own unique personality and it's not just a more of the same.
Even if Pussy's plot with the FBI goes on and takes unexpected turns, what i really liked about "D-Girl" is how this episode focuses mainly on Christoper's involvement in the movie business, a narrative arc that we've seen develop for quite a few episodes now and that i personally liked since the beginning, and how this passion of his doesn't fit very well with his lifestyle.
By the end of the episode we realize that Christopher felt used by Favreau and that perhaps crime is his only way.
I believe that, even if this episode's events left him disappointed, he still ain't done with movie business and that we're absolutely in for a treat!
Lost in Translation (2003)
Amazing!
I loved this movie and it quickly became one of my favourites, it is a story of two lost souls that found each other in Tokyo. Perfect acting and very good cinematography. I recommend it if you're into more slow-paced but engaging stories.
The Man in the High Castle: Now More Than Ever, We Care About You (2018)
Not a great start
After season two i expected something much more exciting, instead i got an hour of slow dialogues with a very distorted plot. Like always, the John Smith's moments are the best parts of the episode, instead the Juliana's plot was pretty much boring and confusional.
