DC Down (2023)
Disastrous Disappointment
Poorly written story. They went out of their way to ensure they had strong female leads, but they failed miserably. Even the best characters just go through the motions. Weak characters and terrible plot. Acting was terrible and very wooden. Cheesy story. This type of movie is supposed to be suspenseful, but it was way too predictable. In scenes that are meant to be suspenseful, the characters are unbelievably "cool".
One of the characters was "Staff Sergeant" Rawlings, but he wore Master Sergeant stripes on his sleeves, and they were attached very loosely. This guy was always called "Staff Sergeant", but that is not realistic. And his assistant was an Air Force "private". The Air Force has Airmen, not privates. Didn't they do any research regarding the military?
At least the movie didn't contain a lot of offensive language or promote any particular agenda.
Don't waste your time. Find another show. Read a book. Take a nap. Anything but lose brain cells on this one.
Family Camp (2022)
Fun Family Movie
This movie makes us take an honest assessment of our relationships with our family and friends. It's funny and even silly in places, but it never insults your intelligence. Absolutely no foul language or inappropriate situations. Truly safe and enjoyable for the entire family.
Do You Believe? (2015)
The Message of the Cross Comes to Life
This is a movie about how living out the Christian faith looks like. It's not sugar-coated, nor is it unrealistic. It's about real people in a real world. In this movie, we have many lives that are intertwined, with the common factor being the Cross.
I especially appreciate how this story makes you take a real look at what you believe about Christ. There are hard choices to make - and not without sacrifice.
My wife says this is a minimum of a "5-Kleenex" movie, mainly to be used at the end. This is when all of their stories come together in a spectacular final scene.
Everyone should watch this one, and buy it to watch it again.
Land of the Lost (2009)
93 Minutes of Trash
The only funny scenes were in the trailer. Non-stop sexual innuendos, suggestive scenes and potty humor. LOTS of sexually suggestive comments and lots of potty humor.
Okay, I should have expected some potty humor with a PG-13 movie. However, I had my hopes up. Hopes definitely dashed!
Should have realized where it was going when Cha-Ka (the primitive man) kept groping Holly's breasts. How juvenile.
Weak plot. Very weak character development. I never watched the old TV series, but I am guessing the name is the only thing this movie has in common with it.
Truthfully, I should have read some reviews before watching it. I'll be more careful in the future.
Was this movie even written by an adult?
Facing the Giants (2006)
Much More Than Football
A "must see" movie appropriate for the entire family if ever I saw one. This is an awesome movie because of its content, its message, and its lessons.
Sure - it's a movie about high school football. But it is so much more than that! It is about lessons that apply to every aspect of life. It is about learning your strengths as you face your greatest challenges.
There are a couple of things this movie lacks. To their credit, not a single "sex" scene or use of foul language. In an age where most so-called "family" films resort to potty humor, this is refreshingly clean.
Finally, this is a movie that honors Jesus Christ. There are many references to His Name, each one in the appropriate use (as opposed to profanity). Watch this movie. Then watch it again.
Love Comes Softly (2003)
Refresingly Clean Movie
I have never read any of Janette Oke's books because I thought they were basically aimed for the ladies. After watching this wonderful story, I will make it a point to read the books. The story introduced us to very moral characters that we came to care about. What a refreshing change from so many of today's movies. No cussing. No sex. Just a wonderful family movie, and I will be purchasing the sequel, "Love's Enduring Promise". The movie is very similar in ways to "Little House on the Prarie". It goes to show that Hollywood doesn't have to make it dirty to make it good. On the contrary, by not corrupting this movie, it's open to a wider audience, and is much more enjoyable.
