Oppenheimer (I) (2023)

Not at all what I hoped for... I was hoping to have a great movie about his life, but it's filled with back-and-forth time frames and a bunch of irrelevant ~10 second videos of basically nothing but colourful images.

I would've rather watched an actual documentary than this. If you like flashing and squiggly videos going across the screen every few minutes, for several long seconds, then you might enjoy this. If you took those pointless colourful videos out of the movie, you might recoup half an hour from the two hour plus long movie.

I can't recommend watching this movie. Instead, get an actual documentary about Oppenheimer. You'll enjoy your time a lot more.

Return to Hazzard
18 July 2010
I was a die hard fan of the original TV series 3 decades ago, I never missed a show, and even watched the Coy and Vance episodes. I enjoyed the 2005 movie as Knoxville and Scott did a great job as Bo and Luke (the rest of the cast left much to be desired).

This new movie, even with it's minor profanity (which would have worked better omitted, in my opinion), was still a funny and enjoyable movie. The story is a bit unique as it tells the story of how the towns folk started off before the '79 series made its debut, surrounded by the typical Dukes of Hazzard cliché'd plot. The movie keeps you entertained with a good amount of action, car chases down the dusty roads of Hazzard County, crooked cops and shine runners. A typical 70's country environment all set in a modern day environment which seemed out of place for some parts of the movie.

Everyone did a fine job acting their respective roles, even though I still don't enjoy Willie as Uncle Jesse, he did a much better job in this move than he did in the '05 movie.

With it's few flaws, it's still a pretty enjoyable movie for any action/comedy fans, or fans of the original series. It's like coming back home again.

Lots of fun, never a dull moment
22 August 2005
This action packed movie should entertain just about anyone who enjoyed the original classic episodes. The plot is about the Duke boys trying to save the farm from Boss Hogg, and they do some pretty amazing stunts along their way. The new Duke boys are great together, they do a great acting job.

The new Sheriff, Roscoe has changed from the doofus Rosco of the original series, to a very tough, take-no-crap new sheriff and is more realistic as a mean sheriff. Other than that, the other characters might have benefited with an unknown cast of characters than the actors they chose. Jessica Simpson (Daisy Duke) just didn't look, act or "feel" like the country girl Catherine Bach once was. Fortunately she didn't play a dominant role in the movie to make much of a difference. Willie Nelson, in my opinion, was a horrible choice for Uncle Jesse. With his pony tails and his cursing made me not like him from the start. His role should've been more to stop the boys from doing things that weren't right, but about his only role in the show was for comic relief (which didn't work out either) as all he did was tell dumb jokes throughout the movie. I like Willie's songs, and I think he should just stick to singing. Reynolds did a good job as acting as Boss Hogg, but wasn't truly convincing as the tough southern character the original boss portrayed. You see him cooking crawfish in the show, lots of them, yet he's thin as a fiddle. I think DeVito might've been a good boss. Lulu was not in the movie either.

This movie could've easily had a different name, like Moonshiners or something along that line, replace the General and it would have received much better ratings and reviews. I believe many people are trying too hard to associate it with the original series that they know they will hate it from the start. But as a more modernized Dukes, it worked out well, albeit poor actor choices for the most part.

All in all, I think the majority will enjoy this movie, either as a fan of the original, or even to someone who has never seen an episode of the classics, because of it's fun content and fast pace, not to mention the stunt driving throughout the show.
