Unfrosted (2024)
Loved the movie!
If you don't like this movie then I think you may be jaded or something. This is just fun from beginning to end. The Mad Men reprisal was fantastic. I could watch Melissa McCarthy paint a wall and she is fantastic in this movie, as always. Hugh grant is so fun in this role! I love him in comedy. He's never afraid to poke fun at himself. The Johnny Carson skit had me googling to see how it was done! 1960s Americana complete with all the small town, big industry charm; the fashions and the cars. I've been watching Jerry Seinfeld for years (who hasn't?) and he really hit a home run with this movie. Loved it!
The Hill (2023)
I loved the movie
I thought I would like it since it has Dennis Quaid. I actually loved the movie. It's so refreshing to see a realistic movie with good actors and no CG. I thought the story line was interesting and I didn't even realize the movie was over two hours! I'm not usually in for a long movie but this one kept my interest. I just really like Dennis Quaid is this type of role. He was excellent and all the actors were great in their roles. If a movie is going to have a sport in the background I prefer it to be baseball because that's the only sport I like at all. I just loved the character "'Red" and whoever played him was so entertaining. Im 55 and that's how I remember old men acting and comporting themselves when I was a child in the 70s. I enjoyed that the historical setting was quite accurate. I saw some things that were off a little but overall it was excellent.
Redeeming Love (2022)
Excellent acting out of Francine rivers masterpiece
I think Francine's work, redeeming love, could qualify as a classic even outside of Christian fiction. I think they did as good as could be expect in this adaption. Some very fine acting. I think the actor playing Michael was very good but a bit lightweight for the role. The story is based on the story of the phophet Hoseah from the Bible.
Rebecca (2020)
Compelling story, well acted
Excellent acting, directing. All around, a well made movie. Lily hammer is winsome as the new Mrs De Winter. I did not see the plot twist coming. The setting is breathtaking, especially the incredible castle.
Hidden in Plain Sight (2019)
I loved it, haven't laughed so hard in awhile
This movie made me laugh so hard. I loved it 😅😂 you have clues as to how poor quality it is at the beginning. Note that "Anna's" mother is so dumb and clueless she seems to have early onset dementia .
The fun really begins though when Nick comes back on the scene. Literally every reaction of every person is totally illogical. The motel front counter lady also seems to suffer from dementia sadly and has no understanding of any situation she's put in. A scene where the mother who goes into the police station to report her son missing and in the hands a known killer but just can't bring herself to report it because, how will all this reflect upon her? Also this is filmed in a world with no 911 service where everyone must solve their own problems themselves. Such fun. All three stars were for the unintentional comedy.
Kim's Convenience (2016)
Love the Kims!
I love the characters and the actors who play them. Politically correctness scolding would have ruined this show, but they always stopped short of that by showing more depth in more areas of real human relationships. This is one of the few truly intelligent, multi faceted tv shows to come out lately. It does feel like a play a little, but I love plays.
The Art of Racing in the Rain (2019)
A beautiful story
I can not believe it but I absolutely love this movie. It is a wonderfully made, timeless story and coming from a dog's viewpoint only adds another layer to this treasure. I do not like movies that intentionally jerk your tears. This was a beautiful, touching movie and in the telling, the viewer inevitably feels the pain. It's not about dogs or cars, it's about death and birth and living.
Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer (2018)
Shows media has little concern for women
An important look at how a despicable man is made to pay for his crimes but only after operating untouched in worse than third world conditions for thirty years. This, after public service officials and media turned a blind eye time and again.
