Hustlers (2019)

Good idea, bad execution
9 February 2020
The story is very much at the surface with no depth or complexity. I wanna know how Ramona is so stable after all the things she's seen. There's not enough substance or story to be able to understand how she is that way while all the other characters around her are noticeably damaged in some way. Why is she so close to Destiny, to the point where she keeps a photo of her and not the other girls? Why did she take Destiny under her wing in the first place? So many questions not enough story to explain them.

Also, what is the movie really about? The hustling? Ramona and Destiny's relationship? The lifestyle and struggle of strippers? Very confusing.

I did like seeing Cardi B though, I must admit.

I just wanna know where tf that horse came from (don't even try to tell me it was Bran 🙄) as well as why Arya is still able to walk after being stuck down 6 times (know better than to ask why she's even alive lmao)

That's all.

Old Game of Thrones feel, wayy out of place tho
6 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the episode. It felt like old Game of Thrones again, especially with the Bronn scene.

But let's not kid ourselves, there's no way (like *no* way at all) any of this is even remotely believable. Daenerys's forces should've been used for the NK, since let's be real he was the ultimate threat. Cersei could've been dealt with earlier or midway through, but she is just NOT the main villain I'm sorry. I mean this is the equivalent of replacing Voldemort as a threat with Malfoy it makes no sense.

I think they could've had more episodes bc clearly at this point they just wanna end the story and do it in a budget friendly fan-appeasing way, which is an insult to the art that was GRRM's masterpiece (to say the least).

The ppl giving this a 10....y'all are bots there I said it.

Wtf is the finale even supposed to be now?
29 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, hats-off to the the INCREDIBLE CGI work and visuals/art team; yes the lighting was dark, but the visuals were still absolutely stunning

There were some really good moments that made me feel like this was really Game of Thrones again, but now that the initial awe that the episode inspired is gone from me and I'm beginning to analyze the plot, all I can think is...wtf?

Every single character is still alive so what was even the point of the previous episode. And is Cersei even a threat at this point after all the army of the dead has been defeated like seriously? What is the finale of the show even gonna be now?

I'm just not sure how this script even passed the green light I mean even when I account for limited budget, limited episodes/ running time, etc etc the terrible writing is STILL not excusable. I don't know if this is being done on purpose to get us all to buy the books or bc of some internal drama bw the show runners and GRRM, or even just bc the writers are actually this dumb. I mean I don't even know if I'm gonna bother with the rest of the episodes just gonna wait on GRRM to finish the story right. So sad I REALLY wanted this to be good but it's turning into ur typical Hollywood cliche-ridden bs that the author was avoiding in the first place

Good in the last 5 minutes
23 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is mostly cringy dialogue; it only got good once Podrick started singing.

Honestly, u can tell at this point that George Martin has all but ditched the show (or hasn't yet decided on the ending so doesn't have material for the producers). I love this show but I'm sorry I'm not gonna deal with any more pointless dialogue and predictable closures one after the other. Remember when Thrones would hit u in the face with something like Theon's betrayal, or Shae coming to testify against Tyrion, or Melissandre's shadow demon coming to kill Renly Baratheon etc etc like creative stuff u were NOT expecting. When's the last time an important character even died in a way we were all just shook by ( compare littlefinger's death to even Ramsay's for example).

As usual the visuals and sets are amazing, but I *really* hope this season doesn't ruin the beautiful memory we have of the show established in all the previous seasons. Fingers - crossed .

Ummm...wut?
21 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
You're telling me the mom doesn't like "American" values of pursuing one's passion and that their culture is superior bc they know how to put family first holdup holdup...why can't u do BOTH?? And pursuing one's passions leads to fortunes, that one can then use to help their families and societies (eg. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc etc). And wasn't Nick's dad ambitious if he set out to build a business so like only women aren't allowed to be ambitious I'm sorry lmao I can't

Only facts, no myths
29 January 2019
There are so many myths surrounding Ted Bundy, but this documentary stuck to the facts and made a compelling case. I'm embarressed to admit I even found Ted charming but he is sick, twisted, and dark; a real life Lucifer. What a metaphor for pure evil in the appearance of charm, even handsomeness. VERY interesting watch.

blown away...

Wow! That's all I have to say. I'm surprised there not more hype around this show, but it is simply superb. The storyline is intriguing and the characters are believable and very well written. Looking forward to a season 4

Boring

I don't get the hype. This stand-up was terrible and felt terribly manufactured. Didn't find it funny at all.

Starts slow, but funny overall
3 May 2018
The start of the show was slow, and had it not been for a friend's fierce recommendation, I would've stopped watching it after 10 minutes. But the slow start becomes irrelevant as the show progresses because it-is-funny.

I understand that it's a little harder to appreciate his comedy if you're not of a South Asian background, as many of his jokes were, in fact, catered towards the South Asian audience. But there's bits and pieces for everyone, and it was simply hilarious overall. Not a waste of your time for sure.

Very Intriguing
2 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This show was so good that I watched all the episodes twice --> I don't ever do that unless it's a REALLY really good show.

Richard Madden's performance is impeccable, and the show did a great job recreating 15th century Florence. I've seen reviews of people complaining about the show's slight inaccuracies, but the liberties the show took added to the story in my opinion, and it really wasn't that big of a deal.

I loved seeing Cosimo and Contessina's relationship evolving throughout the episodes. It's definitely very different from traditional Hollywood- style love stories; it was more realistic, and also more beautiful. I personally believe that Cosimo did in fact have affections for her, even if he did always suppress them.

The story, the script, production, costumes and everything else about the show was simply outstanding. Definitely looking forward to s2.
