Rage (1966)
I Loved Every Minute . . .
I really liked this movie. Glenn Ford has been completely believable in every role he's ever done. That is especially amazing when you look at the wide variety of roles that he has played. This role is definitely at one far end of the spectrum. He plays a drunken town doctor who has given up on his own life. He then meets a woman, the beautiful Stella Stevens, who makes him care again. She is attracted to Ford because he doesn't chase her because of her physical beauty like the other men do. When his life is in danger, he finds that he really wants to live but will he get help in time? This movie will put you on the edge of your seat but you'll also enjoy the sweet relationships of the characters. Glenn Ford and Stella Stevens are such a gentle pair here.
I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
Stallion Road (1947)
A Little Different
I really enjoyed this movie. I think that I enjoyed it because the story is a little different. It is about a bachelor Veterinarian who owns a horse ranch. He is visited by an old friend who is a famous author. The story is mainly a view into the Vet's life through the eyes of his author friend. It is also complicated by the fact that they are both attracted to a single woman who lives on a ranch nearby. Then, they all have to focus on fighting a disease which endangers everyone in the area -- and immediately threatens one of them.
I was eager to see how this all turned out. I hope that everyone enjoys it as much as I did.
John Loves Mary (1949)
Very Entertaining!
I really like this movie. It is just one of those that is fun to watch . . . and re-watch.
Ronald Reagan and Jack Carson are hilarious together. They both are on the edge of a nervous breakdown throughout the story because of all of the trouble they've gotten themselves into. One lie leads to another and their troubles get bigger and bigger.
I think that Patricia Neal does a good job in this role. I think that she was a great actress but I'm not sure that this was the best role for her. The movie was originally planned for Jane Wyman and Ronald Reagan together but when the Reagans split up, the part of Mary was given to Patricia Neal.
When I come across people who have not seen any of Ronald Reagan's movies, I think of this one. He does a great job with this comedy.
I hope that everyone enjoys it as much as I do.
The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956)
Some People Just Don't Get It
I am amazed about some of the other comments here. This is a hilarious movie!!
Brando was great . . . no doubt. Some people say that this was an example of awful casting but I read somewhere that Brando saw the play and just loved it. He pushed for the movie to be made and insisted that he be given the role of "Sakini" so it was Brando himself who did that casting!
I just laughed out loud at many scenes in this movie. The initial meeting of Capt. Fisby (the amazing Glenn Ford) and Col. Purdy (the perfect Paul Ford) is GREAT! Also, the "wrestling match" between the Captain and his geisha is hysterical. This movie IS a classic! It is one of my favorites because of the great writing and the wonderful acting.
Glenn Ford is ALWAYS good and this one is no different. He IS Capt. Fisby and he is hilarious!! I've seen this movie many times and I know I will still watch it any time that it is on.
Enjoy!
