The Da Vinci Code (2006)
Ron Howard did you even read the book?
Ron Howard did you even read the book? How could you miss so many key things? 1) When Silas shot Suniere, he did not even say that the other 3 senechaux were killed (like he does in the book), so what motivation then does Suniere have to pass on this secret to Sophie? He should have simply thought the other sisters/brothers from the Priory would take care of things.....Why, Ron, did u miss this and instead waste film on Langdons claustrophobia 2) Ron, you completely missed the point of the book.
"The Grail is literally the ancient symbol for womanhood and the Holy Grail represents the sacred feminine and the goddess, which of course has now been lost, virtually eliminated by the Church." "The quest for the Holy Grail is literally the quest to kneel before the bones of Mary Magdalene. A journey to pray at the feet of the outcast one, the sacred feminine." The whole movie was based on the grail as a tomb, not the grail as the lost sacred feminine and Mary Magdelene herself. There was no honor to women and womanhood as Dan Brown has in the book.
3) Why did u make Langdon as such a hero? Sophie was also as heroic in the novel as he was, AND she was smart....you once again did not pay respect to the female component of the story. Sophie was the strongest tie in the entire story, the link between their theories and reality, the one pushing to solve the mystery, the true heir to the throne......why did u make her so mute and stupid? 4) You didn't even explain the ritual Sophie caught her grandfather in! Once again, missing a chance to honor women (as per part of the meaning of the ritual) 5) Saunier was such a lovable grandfather who was also a genius, why did u make him to be such a cranky old sod who wrote some codes on the floor? I could go on, but Ron, here's a tip for next time: read the book and understand it before you make a movie out of it. It would avoid you making a fool out of yourself.
Malamaal Weekly (2006)
I liked it!
Let's admit it, Bollywood can't really pull off a comedy - not since Andaaz Apna Apna have we seen a decent comedy make it to the silver screen. I'm sick of all these talentless newbies coming into the industry and appearing in "comedies" that are nothing but annoying screaming and complete idiocy.
This movie though made me laugh right through. The chemistry between the main characters was fantastic and the acting was superb by the 3 main old dudes. Asrani was also FANTASTIC! The jokes, the reactions, etc were perfectly delivered. The story, although predictable, was a refreshing change and it never felt over cooked and the jokes stayed true to the story line.
Good light hearted film!
