So Bad, So Cringe, I Can't Stop Watching and Laughing. Freud and Mel Brooks Would Be Proud
8 February 2023
Don't misunderstand. Qualitatively it is terrible show. A 3. But it is so over the top, its fun to laugh at it. So 5 whole stars!

To understand, let me start by asking "What if someone intentionally made a TV show so bad, they were sure no one in their right mind would watch it, Then everyone does?" Get your minds out of the rock bottom bedrock folks. This is filmed in Mexico and shown on TLC, so no real Oedipal or Jocasta situations are ever going to be shown or make the light of day if such a thing does happen. Still, after the first episode I checked the social media and at least some really are mothers and sons. EEP!

OK then. Normally I don't watch "reality shows" as they are mostly staged interactions and no real risks. This show starts boring enough: Older women are looking for a "connection" with young men, the "reality show" term for short term sex or less likely, a relationship. So far, meh. Who cares?

Then the TWIST: The pool of young men they must select from are the a son of each of the MILFs.

The humor comes from all the ensuing cringe: * Mom's trying to entice the other young men, in front of their sons, while warning their own sons of the women they don't approve of or worse suggest might be an OK pick. LOL * Young 20 something males of varying (im)maturity, trying to saound mature, use pick up lines and strategies that may work on women their own age, but these older women? Worse, the sons sleep with the moms in different beds of the same bedroom. So trying to "connect" with their woman of choice presents "challenges". Hilarity ensues. Finally, sons trying to prevent their own mom's from "connecting" with other "men" that they don't approve of.

* There are "reality" contests where moms and sons win by knowing each other's "secrets" or weird contests where the least successful person causes themselves AND their familial relation to be expelled from the running, thus encouraging both moms and sons to be "players" LOL.
