Angels in America (2003)
Challenging and Brilliant
I have watched this heavy, difficult five hours, and it was worth it. Such brilliant and beautiful words among us, illuminating a strange cultural melange of our country and times.
When I see wrestling or the "news" on television, I hope that there are not alien intelligences watching us, and feeling disdain for such pathetic displays. But if there are such, watching and judging, I can only hope that they see things like this, and know that there are brilliant individuals among us. There is beauty and thought, intelligence and light of reason, in this sea of apathetic stupidity and greed.
The Order (2003)
TV Series - warning: spoiler
This review is not a detailed spoiler, but it does tell the ending (obvious that it was from the start) that could ruin it for someone who has not seen it. So if you hate having surprises ruined (as I do), and you have not seen the film yet, then you should read no further.
You have been warned.
This was not particularly my kind of movie, but I loved the ending. The way it ended left the new person as the "sin eater" and in possession of the his predecessor's fortune and knowledge. As he walks out, I cannot help thinking, little as I liked the movie, it would make an excellent television series as he goes about his business and utilizes these assets left behind. In the film, he rode on a very nice private jet and visited a mansion, both presumably owned by his predecessor. They are now his. I would love to see Joss Whedon make a series out of this movie premise.
Ugly Betty: Sofia's Choice (2007)
Becki Newton multiple role?
Does Becki Newton also play the character of the girl who sits across from Betty at her new desk, in this episode? I assume this character will not be repeating, so they only had to pull it off once. Maybe I am totally mistaken, but I really thought the actress who plays Amanda is also this girl in the bright yellow outfit. She has glasses and a mole and seems to irritate Betty with her lack of sophistication, which is also kind of cute and endearing while being intentionally ironic. I wish it were possible to just make a short comment here. The first sentence is all I really wanted to say. Everything else was just to get the server to accept my submission.
