Star Trek: The Omega Glory (1968)
Worst Episode.
I was 12 when this aired and we were at the height of the Vietnamese war. I was too young to appreciate the complexities of the war. To me we were the good guys and I was sad when the nightly news gave the numbers of our losses. When I watched this episode I also didn't understand what jingoism was but I instinctively knew that there was something just plain wrong about this episode. Kirk lamenting the yellow civilization is almost destroyed and the white civilization is destroyed. Really? It's a good thing the only Asian crewman wasn't with the shore party. That would have been totally confusing for everybody.
Doctor Who: Turn Left (2008)
Donna's Mom
Many of the review with and without spoilers talk in great detail about this episode and I'd recommend reading them. I just wanted to write about the brilliant acting job of Jacqueline King as Donna's mother. Throughout the series she's been a sarcastic biting presence. With this episode we see that her personality was a brittle shell protecting a scared vulnerable person and her breakdown is subtlety and beautifully portrayed by Jacqueline King. Kudos to this fine actor.
