The Note (2007)
Saw this film in 2023-it made me nostalgic for life in 2007!
A good-feel of a Christmastime movie. Took me back to when it was ok to put heart-warming messages in films. And the fact that it dealt with a newspaper reporter was a big win for me. Genie Francis played her role with graciousness. Yeah-maybe it was a tad far-fetched that such a miracle like the one she had could really happen. But I like to be won over with happy endings in this era of divisive thinking on a large scale. The parts of the preacher and the songwriter were great, and the bad -guy TV reporter was believably smarmy. People constantly being on cell phones did not dominate this film (yay for 2007!). I am glad I found it on Amazon Prime for a trip back to a less toxic time in our country.
Himalaya with Michael Palin (2004)
enjoyably intelligent and spiced with humor
I loved the scene where Michael stole a furtive glance at that native woman--and it was deliciously sensual for just a moment! And who if not Michael could sit in a room with the Dali Lama and make small talk seem as natural and effortless as talking to one's local minister? We are drawn into his genuine curiosity for the world and its peoples like static electrical particles seeking a place to bond. One can travel miles upon miles and relearn everything from 3rd grade but much more pleasurably with Michael as our guide and teacher. He is the epitome of a National Geographic color man...may he trek the globe for us many more times!
