How do they make the audience laugh at nothing?

What really annoyed me about this comedy is that the audience would often laugh at nothing. Even if it was something that no one would find funny if you said it in a real bar, the audience would still laugh.

I was reminded of this when I saw a clip of the show on youtube recently. An unknown character walks into the bar and asks the barman, "I'd like a carafe of your house whiskey."

That was enough to make the audience roar with laughter. Can someone tell me how that is laugh out loud funny?

Most people won't even know what a carafe is because it's a word almost no one in the United States uses. But even if you did know what it meant, how is it laugh out loud funny to ask for that?

Try going into a real bar and asking for the same thing and see if anyone laughs. If they do then I guess you've just discovered comedy gold and can go into any bar and make everyone laugh out loud every time.

This laughing at nothing is what always annoyed me about this comedy. I felt like I was being scammed by these people. Maybe they got the audience drunk to make them laugh at nothing? I don't know.

Many people compare it to Seinfeld but it just doesn't compare to Seinfeld as Seinfeld is genuinely very funny.

I fell asleep during episode three and the two previous episodes were only slightly better. We are supposed to believe a few of old codgers can beat up an elite Romulan force. Don't make me laugh. The whole thing is a disgrace.

Spellbinding, emotional.

This is like the movie Titanic. Prepare to get emotional near the end if you have feelings. If not then you will hate it like a few reviewers hated Titanic. It's a test of your human emotions.

The best Sci-Fi makes you emotional and has you thinking about it way after it is over. Blade Runner did that for me and so did Logan's Run, and a few others. But none made me as emotional as this one. The excellent directing, music and acting helped a lot. It's a fantastic episode.

Pole Position (1984–1985)

Superb musical score

The fantastic intro song and music throughout the cartoon is what really stood out for me. It has the best music I have ever heard in any cartoon.

There is very little violence but it still has lots of action. Some of the stories do not make much sense but that is typical of kids' cartoons.

Lethal Weapon (2016–2019)

Reminds me of the best of the 1980s

This series really surprised me. It has been a long time since I looked forward to watching a show as much as this one every week. It reminds me of many good 80s cop or detective shows. No one has been able to equal the buddy cop or detective show formula of the 80s until now. Very well done indeed.

Nothing we have not seen before

How did this rubbish get to number 156 on the IMDb charts ahead of classic movies such as Ben Hur? Must be a bunch of monkeys voting.

As soon as I heard the Scottish accents of the adults and then, inexplicably, the kids speaking with American accents I knew I would hate this movie. At least try to make it *somewhat* realistic so I can suspend a miniscule amount of disbelief. But no, they decided to go with the stupid accents instead. Very predictable too. It's a typical kids movie therefore zero suspense and zero surprises. The Incredibles is ten times better than this yet it's nowhere in the IMDb top 250. Go figure.
