The 2nd (2020)
Continuity Anyone? Let's have some fun.
Ok, a lot of people have commented on the bad acting, writing and directing and it's true. For me though I want to point out the terrible continuity.
One second Ryan looks out the dorm window because he's suspicious and it's about 5-6pm and full daylight. Then the bad guys use some high-tech stuff to turn off all the lights, including the light of SUN because now it's full dark out.
Next Ryan seems to FALL into a fake Russian janitor who is attacking Max Thunderman and then Ryan takes his jacket off (showing his nice dry shirt) in some sort of Jackie Chan move and throws it over the guy and pummels him a few times and now his shirt is soaked and bloodied.
Then he stans up to wipe the blood off himself and he's clean and dry again.
Fake Russian guy's accent turns on and off.
Ryan's pistol is like an old cowboy gun that has unlimited rounds. 51 rounds in the elevator scene alone.
Max Thunderman is impressive, Ryan lost his gun in an explosion but Max managed to hold on to his 6 shooter which he later demonstrates that it can shoot 10 plus rounds and doesn't need reloaded either.
Also, I was quite amazed at the dead man's driving abilities to keep the van on the road while slumped over. Max on the other hand falls off of his bike as a result of an explosion 50 yards behind him.
My favorite part is the foreshadowing of the fencing in the beginning and then you can just hear the writers thoughts, "how can we use this? Oh yes, lets have two girls fight with swords they pull out of a duffle bag on a boat dock. NAILED IT!"
I gave it two stars because I like Ryan, Casper and Richard. They must have lost a bet to be a part of this atrocious high school film.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Yay, A Non-Political Movie
Finally a movie's movie again. This is not filled with sociopolitical commentary like so many others. This one is action packed and better than the first one. Well done.
David and Goliath (2016)
Worthless!! No redeeming value at all.
If you're looking for an accurate Biblical portrayal of the epic story of David and Goliath, move along. Nothing to see here. This story is a re-write and they do preface the movie with the disclaimer that they took artistic and stylistic license. However, this movie is so NOT the story of David and Goliath. If you change the names of the very poorly acted characters there would be absolutely no resemblance. It removes faith from the story and portrays David as a late twenty something warrior in training instead of a sheep tending, song singing, fresh- faced young teenage boy. The acting, directing and casting, just make this movie atrocious. No redeeming value...not even with the hot girl who makes an appearance for a few moments.
