Black Widow (2021)
Enjoyable but too late
I Almost didn't watch it from all the hate it got but it was surprisingly enjoyable, it doesn't really move anything forward in the MCU but it was good to see natasha again and explore her past and the red room as well as introduce yelena , the main problem in my opinion lies in the fact that the character is already dead so it doesn't really make sense to explore her origin after her death.
Loki (2021)
Had its moments
What i liked :
The concept of the tva as well as the whole " letting people have free will in determining who they want to be " was intriguing not quite original but good nevertheless and new to the MCU
The music was just top notch the entire soundtrack is literally a masterpiece
Some dialogues were beautifully written giving us an insight about the characters and how this universe works
The atmosphere is just amazing every episode sort of had its own theme
The loki varients were so chaotic , episode 5 was easily the best of the 6
Owen and Tom's chemistry was amazing , mobius never seemed truely good or truely bad he knew loki and knew how to push his buttons well and was almost like a friend to him by episode 4
Kang the conqueror , kang was definitely a surprise but a welcome one , the way he spoke while may seem lighthearted like he wasn't a threat gave off the exact opposite vibes , the way he talks about just how much control he has over the universe or multiverse made him sound almost like a god in a way he was even scarier than thanos
What i didn't like :
Many plot holes and a lot of things didn't make sense , it also seemed to render the entire infinity saga meaningless halfway through the first episode
The " redemption ark ", loki was already given a redemption ark throughout the movies , from someone who tried to kill his brother and hating his father to someone who died for his brother so we definitely didn't need another redemption ark in this series so apparently the solution to that was to show him clips of movies to run him through his development which personally i didn't think worked at all it just made him seem out of character , making him in my opinion the most boring and annoying character in his own show
The character development , everybody in this show knows loki better than loki himself , his ' development ' composes of characters telling him who he actually is then beating him around for a while until he finally accepts that about himself and changes it as well , and this is not actually an exaggeration an example on this is a scene in episode 4 with sif where she calls him a narcissist over and over while hitting him in the balls until he admits he is
Sylvie , personally sylvie never truely felt like a character of her own to me she is loki but female , so whenever she interacted with loki she felt like a mirror showing loki how he deals with people and how untrusting and untrustworthy he is , so when they starting hinting at romance between them it seemed like a joke to be honest especially since the romance between them felt like something out of a YA book which was funny since they were both over 1000 years old, like nothing out of the ordinary here just loki falling in love with a loki he has done much worse stuff , it however became annoying as the writers were trying to shove it in every scene they had together in the cheesiest way possible with loki not knowing how to function at all without sylvie
In conclusion :
The show could've been better without loki he was merely used as an advertisement tool , it didn't explore his character well and kind of ruined it as well , most of what made loki a loki was missing from the series , sylvie was a better loki than loki himself and they didn't even have the same life , a year ago i wanted nothing more than for loki to return to the MCU but the series was such a disappointment and didn't do him justice at all.
