Out of Death (2021)
Don't even watch the trailer
They even stole the movie cover from one of Bruce Willis' previous movies.
The Directing: What can you say... It leaves you wondering why the director didn't simply copy the numerous examples of Bruce's other successful movies; consider it a paint-by-numbers opportunity: You already know what shots work, what his strengths are and how to take advantage of them, but no, not this bunch of coconuts: The direction on this film is something out of high school, yet the last Fiddler on the Roof I saw at El Modena High School back in 85 was inspiring by comparison. And really? Half of the action doesn't even make sense, you have penciled-in rain... I mean truly crappy penciled-in rain while the actress stays dry except for one conspicuous spot on her should in a pouring rainstorm, then the next 3 shots she has completely different rain spots on her back; does nobody even care about continuity here? This kind of stuff happens throughout the entire movie.
The production values: Did they forget not to film directly into the sun so that the image isn't washed out? It was like high school photography class all over again: "don't shoot directly into the light unless you plan to over-expose the subject so that it stays clear." half the picture looked like nobody even looked at these shots until it was edited and then decided ""What the hell, what's done is done. Let's just go with this and say we did it on purpose." It would take more time to point out all of the individual failings in this movie than it took me to turn it off after 30 minutes of cringing.
The acting: The most lively actor is the one they kill off in the first scene, and (they did it in such a way as to make it hilariously unbelievable) everyone else in this film was so wooden it might as well have done on a marionette stage with puppets. Mr. Willis: Nobody did him any favors either. However was directing him had no clue how to take advantage of his quietly powerful moments and his performance turned out to be stinted and flat Like we've never seen him before. This has got to be one of those films he omits from his bio and just moves on trying to forget this ever happened.
Overall, this is a dumpster-fire of a D-list film and whoever was in control of it needs to go back to film school with a dunce cap and a kick in the shorts for good measure. They should burn this beast and let everyone forget it ever happened.
Nova: Secrets of Noah's Ark (2015)
Propoganda piece for atheism.
In keeping with today's atmosphere of marginalizing of the Judeo-Christian belief system and historical records, this documentary treats the documented history like an old campfire tale and completely dismisses it's significance in order to chase down evidence of a different flood-related account.
They narrow their focus down so far as to assume there could be no other possible source for this new relic of the past than to act as a possible source for "How they came up with the idea for the Noah's Ark tale"
They could not be more insulting if they tried. How does reason and integrity lead the creators of this atheistic hit-piece to conclude one must be the source of the other because of course the recorded history of Noah's Ark has to be pure fiction, so let's look for the source material for their fantasy.
Pure arrogance.
Animal Nation with Anthony Anderson (2017)
Horrendous
If you can get past the racist Host and the woefully corny plastic brain coral in a fish tank "sidekick." The show does sport somewhat funny animal clips, even if most of them are focused on vulgar penis jokes.
The guests on Last night's "Sneak Peak" were mere sycophants hanging on the hosts every word, showing very little intelligence on their own.
Throw in a guest animal handler as the only bright point beyond the funny animal clips and you have a show that makes you laugh for half the show, and just like the trapped passengers in "Airplane," trying to hang yourself to avoid the rest of it.
Penny Dreadful (2014)
The name says it all: Dreadful
They take a perfectly good premise, decent writing even if it is a rehash of the plot ideas from the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," and "Once Upon a Time" except not a single character in this series can be called anything resembling heroic.
OK so it's dark; Gothic and extremely gory... That I can take; and the story line is decent; the twists and turns fairly good, but it's nothing all that new... until the you fill all the gaps in this ponderously slow moving slog with loads of gratuitous orgies and pointless full frontal nudity.
Now it's just a stupid peep-show with blood and monsters.
The Magicians (2015)
Stupid pointless misery Spoilers
How to sum up the first season:
Spend some time building empathy for the main characters in the story, and then rip every redeeming quality from each and every character one at a time, and of course let's just throw some raunchy sex scenes and gay sex for flavor, right because the plot sucks and you need something for ratings, right?
And at every plot point that just might make the viewer hopeful that this miserable tale could rise above the filth it wallows in: Just tear the heart out of it and stomp it into the ground... and while you're at it, just kill off half the main characters at the end just for kicks.
Miserable pile of crap.
On a stick...
