Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)
It's alright
It's an okay film Andy Samberg and the rest of the Lonely Island are just so dam charming that this film was always going to have some semblance of quality. The sheer number of celebrity appearances is a testament to how well regarded the band is.
There are a lot of points in the film where I feel they really rushed the jokes as the majority of them hit the mark, I feel they where trying to replicate Hot Rod in the sense that the film was cheap therefore the low brow jokes weren't out of place however with the amount of money that went into Pop star you kind of feel they could have written better. Plus the mockumentary style wasn't a good choice.
My favorite cameo is Justin Timberlake, whenever I see him act it is always well aware of his roots as a musician and he perfectly sells every scene he is in.
Watch with friends as you will have fun riffing of one another and enjoy the silly songs.
Donnie Darko (2001)
Dope
It is one of those films you will always recommend to someone else but will always come up short with a description to why it needs to be seen. Great acting, great characters.
Watch it and find out time travel, imaginary friends and why the Smurfs only have one girl. Patrick Swayze is in it I won't his character but he plays a role that you won't forget.
Awesome confusing as it is thought provoking the whole film is spooky and there seems not to be an uplifting moment in it which the way it is done here is amazing. You will need to watch it twice and the things is you will want defiantly to.
Ash vs Evil Dead (2015)
Over the top fun
Right let's start off with just saying this series is just so much fun Bruce Cambell is spot on, he is funny and can tell he absolutely loves being Ash.
The films are paid homage and the campy horror aspects are well replicated, you are seeing a more tongue in cheek version of the gore and violence you may remember being frightened of as a kid. The violence is so visceral it makes you want to look away and the actors Cleary own being possessed.
The blood is plentiful the banter is superb there is a scene in the second episode that had me cringing gasping and laughing in the space of a minute.
I would defiantly recommend this series, in a world full of deep thought provoking hour long dramas a half hour show about reanimated corpses getting decapitated by a man with a chainsaw arm and a 'boomstick' whilst delivering one liners is very welcome in my viewing history.
If you love shows that don't take them selves serious you will love this.
Green Room (2015)
Dope
This film is dripping with atmosphere, the cinematography is superb and the characters are realistic and grounded considering the fact the film centers on a punk band and neo Nazis it would be very easy for the writing to fulfill the stereotype that would no doubt be attached to such easily identifiable sub groups.
This movie is fresh as daises, the characters are all believable and their reactions and the actions are all well fitting into the real world. The cat a mouse between Patrick steward and the performs is so tense and exciting I was chomping at the bit.
Patrick Steward is the head of the neo Nazi club who is brutal and efficient and clearly enjoys his role, but he does not steal the lime light from the young leads as there acting chops shine just as bright.
If you want to see a well paced alternative Horror film this is defiantly the one for you.
