Daria (1997–2002)
9/10
Must-watch for teens and beyond
27 July 2021
Daria is incredibly accurate to the teen-experience, even at my time of writing in the year 2021 (the year I graduated high school).

This show was ahead of its time. Incredible writing, comedy, and sincerity. Daria lays it straight out on the table.

Watching this show throughout my high school life allowed me to parallel my own experience with Daria's and has given me the realization that nothing has changed about the school system or the youth generation in 20 years. The generic cliques portrayed by the cast of Daria are still prevalent in modern day society, to the dismay of the "brains" and "weirdos" of the school. Families everywhere will always have some dysfunctionality, friends may betray you, and relationships are arduous to maintain.

Daria sheds light on these truths through and through, and leaves room for self-discovery, all while sustaining an impeccable comedic sense along with moments bursting with emotion (believe it or not, from Daria herself).

So go out there and watch it and stop reading reviews. The best way to know if a show is for you is to sample it. No harm in doing so.

Knives Out (2019)
8/10
Exiting, thrilling, mystery
30 November 2019
The movie was extremely exciting and kept the plot moving very well, and at good pace unlike some other movies. Unlike other mysteries, this movie was not centered around the detective, which was a very entertaining aspect to the movie. One of the only downers was Daniel Craig's attempt at a southern KFC accent.

10 stars for animation alone
16 November 2019
This seems like an innovative sci-fi flick but I must give credit to the animation team that made Alita, absolutely amazing and beautiful graphics, epic and engaging combat, and what a great action movie for all those fighting-lovers out there. Probably my favorite action sci-fi movie ever. Although the story is somewhat generic, especially the bit about Hugo, it was interesting enough in the science fiction side. Looking forward to a second movie if one comes out.

House M.D. (2004–2012)

Best hospital show
12 November 2019
Better than greys anatomy and all other similar hospital shows, at least until last few seasons. That's all that counts. Also the theme song is amazing so.

The Legend of Korra (2012–2014)
8/10
Only seen first season so far, but will make edits as i continue watching
24 July 2019
Ok so I finished watching all seasons of Legend of Korra, and my opinion has changed of it. I will give a quick rundown of each season in my opinion:

S1: This one introduces darker themes, a new age world, and lots of flashy action. Somewhat generic storyline with a cool antagonist that builds off of ATLA's world building. Good season overall.

S2: My least favorite season. I don't think the writing had great direction and this season doesn't seem to fit with the rest. The only novelty I see in it is the introduction of the spirit lore, which helps usher in the next two seasons. The villain is mediocre, and the ending is uncreative. There may be a couple standout episodes but otherwise it never reached the level of entertainment the rest of the seasons achieved.

S3: Very good season, although I'm still up for debate if this one or the fourth is the best. Sheds more light on Korra herself, with an awesome villain in Zaheer who is GOATED.

S4: Great season, another amazing villain in Kuvira. Korra Alone is one of the best episodes of the series, although I felt that part of the story was almost cut short. After the first two seasons I realized that I was only really invested in Korra, so that might be part of the reason why I felt the side arcs only took away from the main event.

Overall notes: LoK is a great way to continue your Avatar experience after ATLA. Each season brings about different themes of identity, unity, and struggle. Some characters are straight up extensions of ATLA characters (*ahem* Mako and Bolin), but others bring energy to the show. The action scenes are incredible as always, with stellar choreography and animation. It certainly is not a masterpiece, but a definite must-watch for the average ATLA fan.
