Allen Gregory (2011)
I really liked it
Funny, witty, good characters, delightfully absurd. It is one of the few television shows I actually watched. I guess it doesn't appeal to the family guy crowd. So be it, but it is a shame it was cancelled. A few reviewers said there were no likable characters. The worst character was Julie, and she wasn't bad. I loved her cohorts. Allen Gregory is charming. Bany tot that would pair Pinot Grigio with a sushi lunch is OK in my book. I loved his crush, the preposterous pairing was facetiously nutty. The humor was wry, never overly crude, and was always enjoyable. There isn't much worth watching on TV. Maybe this will get picked up elsewhere.
Paradise Now (2005)
Brilliant movie
This film was so interesting. I am not a big fan of subtitles usually, but there was many points when the movie was so captivating that I forgot they were there.
I was shown from a terribly unique viewpoint in compared to any other movie I have seen on the topic. It approached a very difficult subject with brazen honesty and straight forwardness.
I really loved it. The director was brilliant. The use of certain symbolism and the comparison to the last supper was amazing I thought. I loved how it took something from a different religion and how their beliefs while so different in so many ways comes to a basic belief.
The camera work and the portrayal of so much at times where there were no words was awesome.
This movie is definitely worth it. Even if only to gain a viewpoint that is different from your own. I think that you will come away with a lot more then that.
Boogeyman (2005)
Worst movie I have ever seen...
This had to have been BY FAR, the worst movie, I have ever seen. It was horrible! It pretended to have a plot. It didn't. It pretended to have a cast that could act, and really for the most part... They could not act. I went looking for a scary movie, and instead I got a 30 some-things man who was scared of the closet. How pathetic. Its the sort of movie do not go off alone, do not go into the big creepy haunted house, do not whatever you do say I will be right back. He does all. In the end when you think OK maybe something will start to make sense... IT doesn't. Never does and just ends making you wonder what movie company gave the go ahead on this film, in this ungodly waste of money.
I went to see it with a friend, and my brother went to the movies on a date. We didn't know what the other was seeing and as soon as I walk in I go "oh my gosh that was the worst movie ever". And my brother goes "OH NO! You saw Boogeyman too??" Yep that about sums it up. The worst movie ever. Don't ever pay for it. Rental of $4 is to much even if 9000 people are watching. They should pay you for having to waste your time watching this.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)
Worth the money.
Very well written movie. It was suspenseful. The music played along with that wonderful and wasn't over done. The effects were good, with out being cheesy. The plot was unique, and although exorcism has been in the movies before, this one was very well done. Much better then any I had previously seen. The movie left you with a creepy chilled effect. Perfect for upcoming Halloween I might add. The part I like best was how they used small details, such as the time, and how they explained it. Very well done movie.
This movie has a R rating and is not good for children, but it isn't offensive. It has a lot of frightening images, and would really scare any kids under 15 or 16. The religious content is non-offensive in the way that it was done, and I really liked that. Some movies that deal in the subject of religion can be a hard subject to approach. They were factual, and did not make religion come off as a fairy tale, and it actually made you think.
I would say it was definitely worth the money.
