I started rating movies/ making lists of what I have watched, ever since 2018. (Though I have had this account longer.) I went through all my DVD's, Streaming Account Histories, IMDB search histories, and compiled the list "Movies I have Watched." Because I wanted to know what I have seen and what I haven't. I wanted to see statistics of what years I had seen movies in, what genre's I gravitate towards, but most importantly...I wanted to see me in movie form.
I truly believe that movies can transform how we see the world.
I don't write reviews because I'm a scatter brained individual and have more feeling than coherent thoughts. So, I'll leave the writing to the pros.
I do however rate the movies. I don't know how others rate them, but below is how I do. If I go back and watch a movie again and feel differently, I will change the rating. Nothing is set in stone.
How I Rate Movies:
-All movies I automatically rate 2 stars for just being created (Creation takes time and energy.)
-Any movie I rate below four stars I don't think should have been made (needs more editing, plot holes, bad acting, etc.)
-I generally keep my ratings between five and ten stars.
-5 star movies are okay, but easily forgettable.
-6 stars can mean a bunch of things...sometimes its plot holes that took me out of the movie, a certain character I could't look past, or as simple as it wasn't that enjoyable...and possibly forgettable.
-7 stars is a sweet spot for me. It wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't bad either.
-8 stars could just be movies that I feel will have an impact on me or just that I enjoy watching.
-9 stars are movies close to perfect, but not quite there
-10 stars is a movie that I think (in my personal opinion) couldn't have been made better.
