Red Eye (2005)
Waste of time. Possible Spoiler.
I just watched Red Eye. My friends promised me it is a good film because the ratings were pretty high. My friend told me that if the movie is bad...he'd give me a 5dhs rebate. So I watched it with them (since they already bought the ticket on my behalf without checking with me). The start of the movie was slow. No surprises. The plot started rather simple and since this is a Wes Craven movie, I buckled my seat belt and prepare for something out of the ordinary. We have learned in the past that when a master story teller starts of with a seemingly ordinary story is bound to shock you later on. They like to lift you up slowly and then cut the rope. But after awhile...I removed that seat belt. I personally am afraid of flying. I reacted the same as Rachel McAdams. I grab the starriest. BUt frankly that scene did not disturbed me one bit. Probably because of that CG plane. So fake. The only scary thing in there was Cillian Murphy. He makes a good psycho. Its probably that hypnotic blue eyes of his. The plot to murder the politician's family was weak. The assassins(4 or 5) park out in the waters trying to be inconspicuous. Hello!!?? Blue ocean...1 freaking fishing boat?? Can you get more obvious then that. And a ROCKET LAUNCHER????? I mean..if you were going to use a ROCKET Launcher...why not just shoot it from one of the high rise? Why go through the trouble of kidnapping the hotel's manageress? Why use 1 ROCKET LAUNCHER when you can use 2? Why bother going through all that just to change the politician's room? Just blow-up the whole level! The show of ground work on Rachel's work routine and her father's whereabouts is so amazing, you'd wonder why they didn't take an easier action. And that psychotic murderer (Cillian Murphy) is weak. How many chances do you need to kill a girl that fell into your laps several time? The film has some OK bits. I know I should not criticize the plot..but seriously there is nothing else to commend about the film. But to say that its a great film is a serious error. I might watch it on T V. But (if was up to me) I would not have spend money going to the movies to watch it.
Into the Sun (2005)
Read this *spoiler* before your day is *spoiled*
I have always been a fan of Steven Seagal. I know he is not as fast as Jet Li or as insane as Jacky Chan but he is by far meaner then the 2. I often describe the way he fight as a giant chewing-gum with hammer. He touch you, you stick to him..he hammers you. BUT... "Into the Sun" has put an end to it. It is by far the worst Steven Seagal movie ever. Heck its probably the worst movie this lifetime. I was so worried about the stunt fighters when they punched Seagal. To punch someone with that much FAT can easily twist your wrist. And half the time I was worried that Seagal was gonna fall asleep half way through his conversation with his new partner. And what is wrong with the director. I can say its more of the director's fault then the actors/actresses. The Japanese lady Seagal falls in love with in the movie can't act to save her own life. In fact the acting was so bad I wonder why it wasn't in the Guinness Book of Record.
Heres my verdict (as if that wasn't enough...). Take the money you were thinking of spending on this movie...change them into coins....and throw them into the lake. It might prove to be more entertaining. By the way...I was the only idiot in the cinema watching this movie.
On a scale of 1-10..I'd say this movie owes me points.
