The Walking Dead: Diverged (2021)
Reminiscent of the worst of Breaking Bad
This episode was written by people who actually liked Breaking Bad's The Fly. That's all I have to say about such a boring, pointless hour of programming.
The Expanse: Fallen World (2018)
Drummer and Ashford converse
Fallen World is a much quieter episode than some. No big battles, no crazy effects, very little shouting. The Drummer and Ashford conversations throughout the episode are absolutely stellar. Dealing with the ramifications of the rules change leaves the characters with critical decisions to make, leading to unexpected pairings. This episode is a game-changer in all the best and simplest ways.
Van Helsing: No 'I' in Team (2019)
Best of the season to date
This was far and away the best episode of the season to date. Returning to the day of the Rising rekindles the original plot of the series in a very welcome way. The actresses do a wonderful job fighting for survival in the unknowns of the original fall of civilization. The Cloverfield-style camerawork helps establish the chaotic nature of the plot. This episode was extremely well done and easily my favorite in quite some time.
Young Justice: First Impression (2019)
Gar writes a show
Allusions to Scooby Doo aside, this episode was poorly written and poorly voice acted. The plot was weak and lazily tied up in a bow by an unnecessary tag. The entire episode rang false, feeling like a storyline written by Gar Logan meant to document his vision of the perfect outing for his new Outsiders. I hope the show can soon return to its roots.
