Fun holiday movie for the Whole Family!
25 November 2023
Loved this movie!! It's got the Christmas curmudgeon, played by Ludacris, a fantastic Santa Claus, played by Lil Rel Howery. The evil politician (because what is more real and scary than a politician on the take!) Played by Oscar Nuñez and the adorable daughter who believes in Santa and Christmas, played by Madison Skye Validum. I watched it with my husband but will definitely watch it again when the grandkids get in town. The bonus to this movie is that the music is soooo good!! I felt like this movie is a fresh take on a classic story. It is worth your holiday time to watch this feel good show!

Grab the popcorn and watch this movie!
15 October 2023
Am I sucker for a romantic comedy? Absolutely! Love at First Sight deliveres a heartwarming movie that is, in my opinion, a standout in the Netflix genre.

Based on a book by Jennifer E Smith. Directed by Vanessa Caswill who does a wonderful job bring the book to life.

Haley Richardson shines and there is chemistry between her and Ben Hardy. I would be remiss in not mentioning that her dad is played by Rob Delaney who is always an asset to any movie he is in.

Jameela Jamil is part fairy godmother part narrator and is lovely in the movie as well. Grab your significant other, some yummy snacks and enjoy a night if Netflix and chill watching this movie! You won't regret it.

Great addition to Hallmark mysteries
2 October 2023
Based aseries by Alexia Gordon. Now that I have watched this, I have 3 of the books in my Amazon cart! Getsemane Brown is in Ireland for a new job but, Her new home is haunted by a musician and only she can here his music and him! Now she is drawn into solving his murder and the murder of the love of his life.

I enjoy a good Hallmark mystery but this one was so good! A mix of ghost story, murder mystery and beginning love story (whom will she choose? Fellow teacher or detective). Here is hoping this is the beginning of many of these books being made into movies! Happy to see more diversity!!!

Poker Face: Dead Man's Hand (2023)

Fun filled whodunnit
27 January 2023
Rian Johnson has done it again! The show starts with the murder then begins again with Charlie, played by Natasha Lyonne and her connection to the victim. The victim in this episode is Charlie's friend and we learn that Charlie has a special gift - she can spot a lie. This has gotten Charlie into some trouble in her past as she used it to win easy money playing poker. Then she was busted by a casino owner but he gave her a job as a cocktail waitress. Then he turned the casino over to his son, played by Adrien Brody who wants to exploit her talent in a private poker game but Charlie just can't stop thinking about the death of her friend and things are not adding up. So Charlie starts asking questions and people would prefer she mind her own business but she just can't stop. This show is going to be a great! I understand the reference to Columbo, but Natasha is way less annoying lol. Peacock has a gem on it's hands and the cast are phenomenal!

Altogether lovely - stellar cast!
15 January 2023
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I have no idea why there are so many negative reviews. It was positively full of great casting and so many cameos. It lived up to my expectations and actually exceeded them. This movie is why regency era books and movies still sell so well.

Plus, the cast was absolutely stellar! Sope Dirisu was a perfect Mr. Malcolm and Oliver Jackson - Cohen was quite the scene stealer! The friendship between Selina (Freida Pinto) and Julia (Zawe Ashton) was a compelling subplot and didn't end as you think it might.

If you love Jane Austen and romance books, you must watch this movie!

Exceptional modern mystery
27 November 2022
This was so much better than I expected! Exceptionally written, smart, funny and insightful. BJ Novak deserved more awards for this. It set as a writer who wants to turn podcaster goes to the funeral of a girl he hooked up with a few times. The cast is perfection. Boyd Holbrook is cast as Ty Shaw, which would have been easy to be a caricature of people who live in Texas but he plays it beautifully where you go from laughing at him to caring not just for him but the whole Shaw family. Ashton Kutcher character is another one well written and acted. He should win an award as well. Grab the popcorn and get ready for a sharply written comedic mystery that takes a few turns!

Don't waste your time
19 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe I wasted 2 1/2 hoursnof my day on this movie.

I love good noir but and I understand that it can drag a bit to paint the full picture but have mercy this was so not worth the time.

The cast was huge! I thought for this many stars to be on board and Bradley Cooper leading the cast that it has to pick up. It took a full hour for Cate Blanchett to even appear on screen but by then there was no saving this movie. Below is a giveaway to the plot so stop reading if you plan to watch this.

Then almost two hours in I realized good grief he's going to end up as the geek. Yep! Ugh! So bad!!

I seriously don't know how anyone gave this more than a few stars.

It would have been one star but I gave it an extra star because Tom Holland tries so hard to save this movie. Never played the game so I had no bias there but this just seemed like a sad lifetime movie attempt at a treasure hunt movie.

Very little chemistry between the characters. This could have been such a good movie but it was as if it was just phoned in.

So Boring

How does this movie has such a high score. The only reason I made it through the whole movie is that my husband was into it but even he said it was just okay.i would have turned it off after 15 minutes but was forced to sit through it all. Spare yourself from this fate.

Watch. This. Movie!
11 May 2022
This should have won all the awards! I'm usually hesitant to watch an Oscar winning movie, often they suck but this movie is beautifully written and acted. Why am I just now seeing Troy Kotsur and Daniel Durant in a mainstream movie?! So many of the actors shine in this. Eugenio Durbez was a stand out as well. I am sure this will be just one of many roles for Emilia Jones. This movie gave me all the feels! You feel the angst of Ruby with the need to be there for her family and the love and pull of music. Seriously, this is a movie not to missed!

Absolutely Worth Watching
5 May 2022
I had heard all the hype and saw the awards but was skeptical. Then my cable provider did a free weekend of apple TV so I watched the first episode. By the next night, we had watched the whole first season. I signed up for Apple tv just to watch it. For once l, something lives up to the ratings.

The whole cast works so well together. The writing is phenomenal and I would have a hard time picking my favorite character, but as of right now I'm leaning towards Roy Kent played by Brett Goldstein. Although, seriously this cast is just about perfect!

It is funny and sweet without being saccharine. It is what entertainment is supposed to do, give you respite from the dreariness of day to day life!

Beautiful setting Hallmark -esk mysteries
5 May 2022
I love Nancy Carroll & Roger Allam, so them staring in this together made me want to watch. Keala Settle also shines in this as Hélène.

Are the plots a bit predictable, sure but if you enjoy most of the Acorn mysteries then you should give it a go. Settle in with a glass of wine and be pleasantly entertained!

So slow
29 April 2022
The whole set up just takes too long. Elizabeth Moss is just so boring and her monotone voice doesn't help with the slow pace. The story of the trauma is real but the acting by Moss seems forced. Phillipa Soo and Amy Brenneman give a good performance but it just isn't enough.

Entertaining TV at it's best
13 October 2021
This show is addictive! I hate reality TV but this is great. It's a show within a show about people who are struggling in their daily life who sign up for a reality TV show to train to do a ballet performance of swan lake. But it's so much better than that. It's a GREAT script with Talented actors. This cast really does mesh well together. I've been a fan of Scott Foley since Felicity but he shines as a work obsessed producer just trying to get the most sensational story out of a bunch of nobodies. This cast is diverse and I don't know if this is Simone Recasner first big show but she certainly shines as Gabby. Kevin Daniels as Wayne Fontaine is hilarious and heartfelt. Sr'Darius Blain as Reggie Sadler the ex football player is so believable. It's only episode 4 and I'm so invested in these characters. This is the TV I didn't even know how much I needed. Go watch it and you will thank me later.

Sweet coming of age movie
4 September 2021
Just finished this on Netflix. Set in the early 60's & directed by Rob Reiner the movie is about two kids who are neighbors from very different backgrounds. As they grow up they start to see each other differently.

He supporting cast really shines in this movie. Aiden Quinn is always amazing. Anthony Edwards also gives a great performance as the sullen bitter father.

Great Action/Comedy - family friendly
1 August 2021
Even with the subtitles this was a fun action comedy. I'm not a big fan of Jean Claude Van Damme but my husband loves his movies. Yet this was a movie we both really liked! It reminded me of Red that Bruce Willis did.

The supporting cast were really good too. I don't understand why the lower scores unless they were expecting something more traditional action or if they just hate to read subtitles.

JCVD has to come save his son who's cover has been taken away. This leads to some great comedy scenes as well as chances for him to show off some of his signature moves. The fact that this guy can still do the splits and hold himself up is pretty flipping amazing!

Great way to spend a Friday night.

Boring & so slow
2 May 2021
The lead character Molly in my opinion, is unlikable. She's a crappy cop, mother and person. The story doesn't build it just plods along. It's one part murder mystery, one part horror/ghost story but really fails to be either. I thought it would get better after a couple of episodes but NOPE. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one. I gave it two stars only because Ewen Leslie's performance is decent.

Modern Update
8 February 2021
So good! Queen Latifah shines as the ex CIA turned do good vigilante Equalizer. The premise of this remake doesn't divert too much from the show in the 80's or the movie remake brilliantly done by Denzel Washington. She is the divorced mom with a teenage daughter who, per all scripts, has a contentious relationship with her often gone mother. She is spoiled and whiny which would by only critique. Queen Latifah is relatable female action star that we need. These roles are far to often given to men. I am glad to see CBS shake things up using a strong black female as the lead. The supporting cast is strong as well. I can't wait for the next episode and I strongly recommend that you give it a try

Idris Elba shines in this movie

How did this movie fall under the radar when it came out? The action is really good and the plot nicely written. It is a tense ride filled with twists. Idris absolutely shines! I would have loved a sequel to this.

Horrible
24 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
No matter how bored you are, skip this. The mystery itself is Lame. The acting, barely passable. The story line is ridiculous and the fact that **spoiler**" (not really) that her ex boyfriend set it all up only makes it more ridiculous. Please don't waste any of your time.
