Veronica Mars (2004)
This TV show is entertaining enough but the lead character is hard to like
Veronica Mars character is difficult to like, too talkative and confrontational. It is hard to understand why so many good and handsome men fell in love with her when she couldn't care less. The plots of the cases are not well thought. I guess the writers had to make men love her, they should, in stead, make the character more attractive and the plots more logical.
It is a common pitfall for writers of such shows. A unlikable character who has too many friends and loves.
The writers have extremely negative views on high school in general which is very telling some of them could have been scared for by their own experience.
I Am the Night: Aloha (2019)
Good plot however dragged
The story should fill 4 episodes in stead of 6. The dialogs were mostly empty in order to thicken the mystery. Half ass conversations are the most annoying. You will have to listen to a lot of them if you choose to watch this show. In real life people can't help gossiping. The characters are thin, especially the reporter, a clichés, a troubled hero, who goes against the crowd and save the day. The music was pretentious. Without it some of the scenes wouldn't be necessary.
The Ipcress File (2022)
Good story but it is a remake so they can't take credit for that
The actions in the show are jokes, everyone is moving so slowly to kill or be killed. It is just not believable, trained agents can act so slowly when it is life or death.
Endeavour (2012)
The story repeats
Detective Morse is a man who couldn't learning from his mistakes. He got involved with women left and right, all part of his investigations. Or married or both. I have to blame the writers who were incapable of new schemes therefore just repeat the stories. After watching many seasons it just became ridiculous.
Striking Out: Episode #2.6 (2018)
Really good show
Really like the 2 leading characters and their relationship after it explored.
Too bad the story had no ending.
Outside the Wire (2021)
Not too bad
The story is interesting but ending is cliché. Especially the last conversation between the the two leading characters was just wasting of time. The whole conversation should've been avoided instead of saying a lot of nothing.
Ava (2020)
I like it
The story and fighting scenes are interesting enough.
Wrath of Man (2021)
Great story
This is a way better story than all of his other films.
The Old Guard (2020)
Loved it
I love action movies with good story lines, just like this one.
Guilt (2016)
The characters are so silly
The Grace character was as smart and mature as a 5 years old. A shining example of whom not to be and what not to do.
The plots are similar to a real case happened in Italy. The rest was just making it more of a mess.
No one character is likeable in the show, which has too much drama and too little common sense. I have to stop watching after episode 4 because the Grace character and her stupidity was too overwhelming. The whole show was hinged on her.
The sex screens were so juvenile that had no bearing on the show. They shouldn't have bothered.
Whitechapel (2009)
Nothing to watch
The music which can be a character of any show played a leading role in this. Without the music there isn't much of a show. They were forcing the connection between the modern crimes and the ancient cases with some special effects and music which became annoyance.
Wild Mountain Thyme (2020)
Silly one
If I call it a romantic movie I am pushing it. If I call it a comedy I am pushing it. Everything is so forced. There is no chemistry between any characters. What's the purpose of the movie?
Devils (2020)
Love it
A good story, predictable but still entertaining. I like the 2 leading men who are perfect for the roles.
Gabriel's Inferno: Part One (2020)
WOW
I haven't read the books. I streamed all 3 movies at once. The acting was great. Both leads displayed their emotions on points. Just when I thought there was too much kissing, the final love making scene looked so real, down to using a towl, the emotion was all there, without a wide shot yet it's perfect, putting the Fifty Shades movies to shame. The sex scenes in the Fifty Shades movies seemed modest and unreal in comparison. The only thing is the actress who plays Julia is too petite.
Fifty Shades Darker (2017)
It's a little off for both darker and freed movies
I read the books. Both Dakota and Jamie looked too old to play a 22 and 28 years old in this. They seemed like a couple in their 30s. The movie made Ana a much stronger character and Christian a much weaker character comparing to what's written in the books. The dynamic of the 2 in the books makes more sense, fresh out of college Ana suddenly fall into a life completely unknown. She's naturally unsure about things. Christian is more dominant as he has been in all things for over 8 years. Both are well read. In the books, Ana and Christian are on a journey of self discovery since they met. Both have been emotional throughout the journey. The movie did not reflect those.
Dakota is the better actor of the 2, though it might has something to do with the script which is thin even though a large portion of the dialogues is from the books. Most of dialogues and emails in the books are very intelligent and fun despite many F words.
Mad Men (2007)
Good storyline but...
I streamed all 7 seasons in a week. Don Draper is too reckless, drunk, and miserable for too long. The guy can't get a break. He supposes to be a brilliant man yet every thing he touched turned to ashes. He always does things with good intentions which led to terrible results for unfathomable reasons.
For all 7 seasons, everyone is having unprotected sex with everyone else. They're just too horny to be choosy. Most of the characters are smoking and drinking none stop. It's not too hard to imagine that they're full of STDs and won't live pass 50.
The Siege of Jadotville (2016)
Overall, it is really good
I don't normally like war movies. This one is interesting and well made.
My Dinner with Hervé (2018)
Pretty good
This is normally not my type of movie. But the storyline and performance is first class, surprised me.
Endings, Beginnings (2019)
So boring, what is the point of making this movie?
The girl had a lot of sex which doesn't help with the boring. Not tasteful in any ways. It's raw which is fine if only there is more to the plots. A lot of smoking filling the scenes, why?
The Fall (2013)
Good script and good acting
The pace is too slow. Everything else is great. The show is full of surprises. The second and third seasons are more intriguing.
After We Collided (2020)
Great improvement
Again Tessa is too smart and Hardin is too nice comparing to the same characters in the books. The story and the performance is significant better than the first movie.
After (2019)
Love the couple
Jo and Hero do have great on screen chemistry. They are also calm and intelligent people off screen.
The movie is too departed from the books, the plots and conversations are just silly. Hardin is too nice and Tessa is too smart. Many plots in the movie felt disconnected to each other and irrelevant to the storyline. Conversations have obvious gaps in them. The storyline does not flow. It's obvious that the movie director and producers aimed for a simple love story. Jo and Hero carried the movie and made it sort of entertaining.
Having said that, some plots in the books are not believable and lack of commonsense. The books are also full of mistakes. However the storyline is still more entertaining than what is in the movie. The most ridiculous thing is, there are so much materials in the books, why create new lamer plots?
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (2020)
Nothing yet
No pretty faces on this show. It's like they are against it. The cast of main characters is not impressive. One episode per week, painful, good luck with that!
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)
Poor casting
Especially the actor for Jace, who is the most important role in the movie/story. It's like they found a teenager who has been living on some street. He looks creepy. No wonder there's no sequels.
Dynasty (2017)
The story line is so ridiculous
Whoever wrote the script don't know much about life. Some of the actors are very talented. I'm sorry they had to act like the story make sense.
