The Pacifier (2005)
Actually Funny! Surprising, I know.
OK, i'm 24, and watch a lot of movies.
When my friend pulled this out of the shelves at the video store, I thought it was another one in our running joke: who can find the WORST movie. I thought he might have won. Then he said he was serious. He'd heard from a friend it was good. In the end, his argument was good enough that i ended up renting it.
I was surprised, and pleasantly so. It WAS good. Well, funny. To be honest, its been a while since I've seen it (at the time of writing) and Im looking forward to watching it again now that I've been reminded of it. While some of the action sequences were laudable due to their poor design and direction, most of the movie was filled with genuine laughs. My initial objections to the premise (Mr. Nanny remake anyone) and the actor (I usually am not a Vin fan) were overcome by the actual comedy that ensued. Kudos Vin.
SHORT ATTENTION SPAN START HERE: In summary: I laughed earnest laughter. I'd watch it again in a heartbeat if a friend hadn't seen it before. I'm not sure about putting it on my parents Netflix list (i'll re-watch and edit this). I'm not going to buy it.
Meet Dave (2008)
Funny! Seriously. (Despite what you've heard)
I'm 24 and watch a lot of movies. More than is healthy perhaps. The point is, i've seen most of the so-called "comedies" that are out there today. While this isn't particularly sophisticated or cutting-edge, it still delivers.
This movie made me laugh from start to finish. At first, perhaps, they were courtesy laughs, since I'd heard just "how bad" this movie was. But soon they progressed to genuine amusement. At no point did i think to myself "ooh, how clever" or "holy crap that was awesome" but at the same time, the stretches between sincere laughter were kept nice and shorty.

Gamers (2006)
Hilarious Mockumentary
This is a comedy about four guys that are about to set a record for having played D&D every day for the past 23 years. If you can deal with that, then there's a good chance you're going to like this movie.
From reading the comments on here, it seems like this is certainly a "love it or hate it" kind of movie, but all of my friends love it. I certainly loved it. I loved it for the dumb comedy that it was. The mocumentary style worked quite well for this film. Although it was quite different from a Christopher Guest film (eg Best in Show), it has much of the same appeal--bizarre characters with an almost unnatural obsession. In this case the obsession is the RPG DND (Demons Nymphs and Dragons).
If you've ever seen other mockumentaries, you'll know that they're not for everyone, and you have to be in the right mood to watch it. But have a couple friends over, drink a few beers, and you'll be rolling on the floor with laughter.
I've seen complaints about the stereotyped main characters and the clichés that are employed in the movie. I believe that criticism stems from each character living with his parents and working at a lousy, under-paying job. Thats where the stereotypes end. Each character brought something original to the table, giving it a fresh spin. While a few of the characters are The supporting cast (Reece's Boss, Gordon's Parents, etc...) also really came through with a lot of laughs, rounding out the movie.
This movie is perhaps a little less polished and refined than a Guest film, but for a first-time writer/director/producer/editor its absolutely brilliant!
