Dark Ride (2006)
Great film!
I think this is one of the best horror films I have seen in years! I went to a packed theater in NYC and can't remember the last time the audience was so into a film. My boyfriend begged me to go as he's really into the genre but soon I was won over. I liked Dark Ride as much as he did- it was super scary and a whole lot of fun. I wish they made more films like this one. The story is about a group of kids who break into an abandoned Dark Ride on a dare. They run into the coolest monster to hit the screen since Jason, names 'Jonah' - the film takes the time to develop good characters and the director Craig Singer does a fantastic job balancing the gore with the laughs and scares. Most films have these interchangeable characters but that's NOT the case with this film. Unlike films that put characters in situations just to kill them off - Dark Ride actually has scenes in it IMAGINE a horror film with interesting dialog! The acting was really good and it had this one scene that was totally off the hook! Big thumbs up.
A Good Night to Die (2003)
What a great film
My friend rented this film and while I really wasn't expecting much I have to admit it was one of the best indie films I have ever seen. I thought the story was interesting but what I really loved was the style and way it was shot. The director really did a fantastic job keeping me engaged and guessing. I see lots of "NY" type stories but this film was totally fresh and really stayed with me - I also liked the August character. They should do another film with him and Ronnie alone but I guess thats not an option at this point. I think it they should make more films like this - I hate all the same stuff over and over again and really liked the twists this film kept delivering. I am going to keep a look out for Mr. Singers next film. Some of the scenes were pretty out there but that's why I guess I liked it so much. The dream scene was so bad ass!
