I want to cry, I really do....
31 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I did a very dumb thing. I bought this movie before I rented it. That was a big mistake. I have never been so disappointed before, and for the first time ever, I'm tempted to sell it. I also read the book before I read it. Big mistake. Even worse, I loved the book. It was the best book I have read in a long time. My mom also read it, and also saw the movie. She, too, was very disappointed. They cut out so, so, so much from the book, it was pathetic. The story line went way, way too fast, and they cut A LOT of important information (watch the deleted scenes on the DVD, and you'll see what I mean). Although it's not possible for a movie to be 100% accurate for the novel it's based on, I feel that they just barely tried this time. OK, so the movie was two hours long. Couldn't it be just a little longer so it could a tiny bit accurate?

OK, now for the positives. The acting was good, and the set design/costumes were good. Done. That's the good parts.

Overall, I don't think I'll sell it. Maybe, when I forget how good the novel was, I can enjoy the movie more. I will leave you with what my mom said about the movie, and all who feel about the movie like I do will agree with this: "I think the movie makers had a plan. It just wasn't a good plan."

Don't listen to me or others, judge for yourself

Warning: Spoilers
*Sigh*, that's all I can say. You ever seen movies that are so hyped up, and you watch it, and want to smack everyone you gave it a 10/10? For me, this my movie. I'm sitting here and looking at other's rating, and seeing how everyone thought it was awesome, well, I disagree, and am trying to figure out why they gave it a 10/10. First off, this movie is a sequel to the game final fantasy 7. I like the game final fantasy 7, and thought watching this movie would be fun. I had a huge headache when I was done. The Plot is so confusing, the translation from the original Japanese is a joke, and the English voices for the characters were awful, and not what I was expecting or would have wanted (why is Cati-sith Scottish?) Anyway, on the positive, the animation was breath taking, and the some of the action scenes were OK. (FYI, the show down with Sephiroth lasts four minuets. Worth it. Real worth it.)

Alice (1988)

I haven't seen it in forever, but......

Warning: Spoilers
the last and only time I saw it was over ten years ago. However, since I saw it when I was 7, and saw it about three times, it should go on this list. Neco z Alenky is an Czechoslovakia movie, and is based on Alice in Wonderland. However, this is not you're typical, sweet, Disney version. Let's just say I had nightmares for weeks, and I had my first memorable awake/asleep hallucination or dream. It's also very, very odd, which is putting it mildly. It is only one human actress (Alice, duh), and the rest of the characters are puppets, that bleed sawdust (that's what I remember most.). I honestly don't remember a lot of it. But I do remember her descent in the rabbit hole. In this version, wonderland is a huge house, and her fall is actually her riding an elevator. She sees the jars, and they're filled with body organs and gross stuff. Yeah. I have to watch it again, because I don't remember it very well. I wouldn't recommend this version for little kids. Stick to the Disney version for the little ones.

Harriet, how I remember you
22 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie with my dad when it came out in the theaters -AHHH! IT CAME OUT IN IN 1996!!! I FEEL SO OLD!!-...ahem-sorry, my age just slapped me in the face. Anywho, we were watching the movie and the movie went out just as Harriett was taking out all her supplies from various places, and I remember telling my dad, "Maybe they don't want us to know where she keeps her things." The reason I bring up that random memory is because I remember it. I was so entranced by it, I remember saying that. I use to love this movie. The movie use to depress me, though, as Harriet loves all her friends thanks to her spying. Anyway, the acting is OK. Granted, it's no "Shakespeare in love", but it's OK. The story is also very out there, however, that's not fair for me to say, as I can't remember the storyline!

The babysitter's club...^^

OK, I miss this one. Actually, a lot. I don't know why, but I've been thinking about it like crazy lately. I think it's the season, because I'm sure I got this movie on, or very close to my birthday. I miss the simplicity of it, and how good it made me feel. This was another one that went bye-bye at the garage sale. But, that's OK. Maybe, just maybe, I'll buy it. It'll be good for when I teach, especially if girls dominate the class. I loved this movie. Granted, the story was a little, eh. The acting was OK. I don't know how accurate it was to the book series, as I've never read any that I can remember. I love it. Why did I let it get sold?

To see this movie with young eyes again...
21 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
The movie about a boy who finds a cupboard, that once you put in an action figure or doll, they came to life. I searched high and low for one, and darn it, I never found it. I gave up, or did I? Lol, don't think I'm being serious. I use to love this movie. I still do. Sadly, our copy was sold at our garage sale when we moved out of our home in Canby. But, I'm not getting the DVD. Want to know why? Well, I saw it for the last time when I was 10, or so. I had to cover my mouth from restraining my laughter. I had never realized how bad the acting is. There is one scene where the lead character is panicking because his secrete is about to be exposed. I laughed. I laughed hard. I said goodbye to my copy, and I haven't looked back. I loved it, but I may only get it for when I start teaching. It's not really a movie I would want to watch by myself. At least, not anymore.

Once upon a time...
21 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
For the life me, now that I'm 19 (almost 20) I have no idea why I watched it as much as I did. My dad actually laughed when I asked to get it. For one, it stars Shaquille O'Neal, which should have been a clue. At the time, I thought that was neat, and made me watch it more. I loved this movie while I was young. I use to pray for the genie, so I could make it rain candy. The most hilarious part, was it was an illegal copy, and at the bottom of the screen, it would scroll "This is an illegal copy. If you have bought this from a store, you have broken the law." Anyway, as I got older, I saw how stupid the story line is, and how bad the acting is. However, it was part of my childhood, and you can't ignore your childhood. Make fun of me all you want for once liking it, but remember, I was seven at the time.

Spy Kids (2001)

Eh. That's all I can say
15 March 2008
If I ever was trapped on a desert island, and this is somehow the only movie I could watch, I'd watch it three times, then chuck it into the ocean, and learn to play the coconut. Why? Because it's not worth my brain rotting to watch it over and over again. Now, don't get me wrong, pre-pubescent boys love it. However, for me, I can only stand to watch it, because I was forced to (and, might I add, I was). I thought the plot was bad for me, but OK for kids. I loved that Antonio Bandres was in it (can't see why..), and I thought the kids were cute together. And, oh yeah, the guy who was evil turned good? Could he look anymore like Ian Hart from the first Harry Potter (same outfit, almost)?
