Halo: Allegiance (2022)
What is this garbage?
I've had no problem with the "silver timeline" and have defended much of what this show has done.
But seriously, what the hell was this episode?
We have a male lead and a female character, lets force them into an unwanted non-sensical relationship that throws everything into chaos.
Yet, at the end of the episode, what have we accomplished plot-wise?
Makee started out as covenant, and ends as covenant. The Halo promotional website stated they knew about Makee's energy dagger after the last episode, yet in this episode she keeps turning it on and people are letting her roam free.
Halsey starts out under arrest and having lost power, ends in the same place.
Miranda was given a pointless promotion. She wasn't in charge of alien technology research or the Spartan program in cannon - this sure feels like we hired an actress and need to find something for her to do.
In the trailer, hey look, we are going to show a planet getting glassed. Show comes around, here are 2 more seconds of lava, you don't get to see the planet getting glassed.
I actually found where Kwan's story was going in the last episode kind of interesting, even though everyone else hated it. But if she's guarding a portal to Halo I'm going to quit this show. It better be something to a shield world or an ark. All of the importance they have put on the two artifacts lines up with how I expect them to get to Halo similar to lore. But I'm starting to think its all for nothing because these writers are idiots.
There are times I think the writers get it, that they understand what Halo is about. There are other times I think they hired the StarTrek Discovery team.
I don't get it, you have 9 episodes of TV to write. How can you have so many episodes that people consider pointless or filler?
Invasion: The King Is Dead (2021)
Absolute waste of time.
Poor writing, no aliens, no sci-fi, and no interesting characters or story lines.
I'm done with this show. I can't justify sitting around watching something so bad. I had high expectations for this show.
Invasion: Last Day (2021)
Unimpressed
Is it so hard to find a writer who can write characters I care about? I was really looking forward to this show, and now I don't want to waste my time on it.
They spend most of the episode on family drama and I just sat bored, asking what this has to do with the plot, and why I should care.... with one of the worthless plot points looking like an ad for what you can do with Apple products.
I'd like the hour of my life back. I'll watch a few more episodes to see if it improves, but I'm not looking forward to it.
Foundation: The Mathematician's Ghost (2021)
Book absolutists need not watch... leave the show to people who enjoy it
There seems to be an attempt to review-bomb this show with extremely negative reviews by some hardcore fans of the book. I really hope they give up on the show soon because they really are quite obnoxious.
A common complaint they make with this episode from them is the time jumps - that they are confusing, they don't make sense. All but a single one of those time jumps relate to a single story/concept they are telling, and its told in chronological order. I find these complaints to be disingenuous, if you can't understand those time jumps then there isn't much hope for you understanding much of anything in life.
Another complaint that has been common with both episode 2 and 3 is "That's not in the book"... so what? In the book, most characters lasted at most a single chapter. They are building characters to last several episodes for a different type of audience. Episode 2 occurred between book chapters. Episode 3 builds out backstories for people I would expect us to be following for quite some time.
If you can't stand changes to your precious books, please, go away. This is an excellent TV show that doesn't need your permission to exist.
