Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Too much animal abuse
Just back from watching the new guardians movie in the cinema and quite frankly I'm shocked and disturbed at the amount of animal cruelty in this movie. It was disgusting. Thankfully my 11 year old opted to stay home for this cinema trip. It was just way too much, I'm really disappointed. What the hell Disney!?
More disturbing than some horror movies. Not suitable for kids at all.
The parts without animal abuse were ok, we laughed a few times but felt like crying more often than not.
Hopefully the true reviews shine through and Disney have a long hard look at themselves. It's a one time only watch for me unfortunately!
The Sandman (2022)
Loved it!
I liked the look of this when it popped up on Netflix. I had no prior knowledge of the comic or the story line but knew the sandman was something to do with sleep and thats as far as my knowledge went. So my usual visit to IMDb before I watch anything left me feeling disappointed. Poor reviews, series drops off after episode 6, how woke the whole thing is and comic fans in a rage. I didn't even try the series until 3 weeks had passed from first reading the reviews. Surprisingly I was hooked! The visuals are beautiful and Morpheus is mesmerising. I loved it so much I ordered the comic! Think I might even rewatch the series it was so good. Give it a try.
Till Death (2021)
Great thriller!
After reading the reviews I was waiting on a really awful movie but was pleasantly surprised! This is a great thriller that we thoroughly enjoyed. Megan fox was fantastic in it. Would watch again for sure.
Minuscule 2: Les mandibules du bout du monde (2018)
Ultimate feel good factor
I smiled all the way through this! It is the definition of joy. My daughter (age 9) complained she didn't want to watch it at first but within minutes was glued to it, laughing and mesmerised by all the tiny characters and their adventures. Both Minuscule movies are a total delight!
Greenland (2020)
Great all rounder
Think I've just went through every emotion in the book! This is a great watch and a great disaster movie.
Triple Frontier (2019)
From a female perspective 10/10
Ok I don't know why there are so many bad to average reviews of this movie. It's a great movie! I've watched it about 10 times. I didn't pick up on any plot holes, lack of silencers on guns or anything else listed in the negative reviews purely because I was watching for the eye candy on screen! The 5 main characters work amazing together and they're great to look at! I want to be in a Triple Frontier sandwich! Watch it ladies you'll not be disappointed!
Fantastic Four (2015)
What is with ppl slating this movie!?
Before I start, I want to mention I've never seen or read anything about fantastic 4 so for me this film is stand alone, I can only base it on what I seen and enjoyed about this movie.
Thoroughly enjoyable, good story line, realistic and believable acting, great characters.
I've watched this film at least 6 times and keep going back to it because it's believable!
Go in with an open mind and enjoy it for what it is, a decent, well put together movie. Disappointed there's no follow up but that's prob due to all the negativity (yawn thanks for spoiling it ppl)
The Prodigy (2019)
Don't go by the reviews
Thoroughly enjoyed this! Don't judge by the poor reviews. Good solid story line and gd acting. Tense and thrilling in parts! Would watch again!
Life (2017)
Scary and enjoyable
I watched this movie and thoroughly enjoyed it! I was sitting on the edge of my seat for most of it and found it to be frightening. So when I came on IMDb to read the reviews I was shocked at how many people had given such bad reviews! I would definitely watch again and hope they do 'Life 2' at some point soon. This is a great sci-fi movie go watch it!
It (2017)
Average but worth a watch
A solid 6
I was so looking forward to this movie. We have waited a long time for it (27yrs) I wanted not to be disappointed but....it was all just very average.
Before I continue I want to make it clear the love I have for the original TV mini series. It was on repeat in my house as a child and I feel nothing but nostalgia (and fear) when I think of it or watch it. So to see this new version miss out on some of the vitals that made the original so special was disappointing.
Things I didn't like. The kids were not innocent or naive enough. The original story took place in 1960 when of course it was a more innocent time. This was lost in this new film as it was set in 1989. The constant babbling between the boys was really annoying and pointless to the story. When the kids were all experiencing their individual encounters with Pennywise there was zero structure with no purpose or history to their encounter. The kids were flakey, they didn't have the strong individual personalities needed to make them distinguishable. The second part to the mini series heavily relied on us caring about the kids in the first half then continuing their stories as adults and how their lives had panned out since leaving Derry. In the 2017 remake the only ones I cared about was Bill, Beverly and Ben the others just blurred into one character. Too much cgi!! Poor and not scary! Most disappointing was the cgi encounters that were not Pennywise e.g. the lady in the painting, the headless man in the library and the zombie creature outside the derelict house. Why even bother it was done so badly. I also never really got the feeling from this film of how wrong and bad things are in Derry I felt this was skirted over a little. And last but not least a lot of the scenes with Pennywise I couldn't help but notice his contacts (eyes) or whatever they used for his eyes were in wrong so took away from the experience of fear as I was too busy wondering what was wrong with his eyes! And no mention of dead lights anywhere :(
Things I did like. Most of the scenes with Pennywise packed a punch and were frightening. I liked how they linked the famous phrase 'they all float down here' to a visual in the end scenes. I liked the creepy chemist character and Mr Marsh, to me they represented Derry and all that was wrong with it. Bill, Ben and Beverly all great and well developed characters. Good humour throughout and it was used at correct times in film.
Bad out ways the good unfortunately but I do think this film has done well in continuing the clown fear legacy!
