Mad God (2021)
Beauty in the Grotesque
First off, let me start by writing that this is a challenging movie to sit through. It's bizarre, grotesque, and beautiful from a aesthetic point of view. Then there is the other part of it, the mental rollercoaster that accompanies the open ended storyline. As I sat through the movie, I found myself trying to rationally understand what each part meant and the moral the writer was trying to teach. The complication of approaching the story this way is that every time I felt I had a grasp on it, it would slip through my fingers. I suppose that was what we were to learn, that life, the universe, history...god, is a cruel and disturbing cycle of endless pain and suffering, only to begin again over and over.
Wolf Like Me (2022)
So good!
I really enjoyed the whole season. Binged watched this show and I wish I could have more to watch. It has a little of everything in it, a bit hallmark and a bit sci-fi. The characters a very likeable and I found myself really connect with the dad played by Josh Gad. Highly recommended for viewers who enjoy a little sappy romance with their fantasy.
Saturday Night Live: Paul Rudd/Charli XCX (2021)
They chose poorly
It was very unfortunate that they decided to continue to put on the show instead of canceling it. I love Paul Rudd and I really wanted him to have an awesome episode but it was just a mess. On the plus side with them not having an audience, they could cover up the fact that no one would be laughing at some of those jokes if there was a crowd.
King Richard (2021)
Small, broken man nearly ruins it all
King Richard is a movie starring Will Smith as the father of Venus and Serena Williams. Smith does a wonderful job playing a very small and controlling man of questionable intelligence. The moral of the story is that occasionally even an idiot can stumble into a situation where even his misjudgments cannot stop talent.
Saturday Night Live: Jason Sudeikis/Brandi Carlile (2021)
Can we actually make Mellon happen?
I think I'd actually watch that show. The science skit was hilarious and the Joe Biden intro was incredibly accurate lol. Weekend update was funny as usual.
Creepshow: Time Out/The Things in Oakwood's Past (2021)
Very interesting episode
Both stories were solid morality tales. Almost gave up on the second story as it was a cartoon. Good thing I stuck with it because it turned out to be a very strong in its Lovecraft influence.
Don't Breathe 2 (2021)
First half was great
I really like the first movie so I was really excited to see the sequel. The first half of the movie was great, the little girl did a great job. But the second half of the movie where the birth mom wanted the heart of a little girl just didn't make any sense.
American Horror Story: Take Me to Your Leader (2021)
Terrible
I waiting through half a terrible season of this show in anticipation of a killer second half and this rubbish is what I got?
Stargirl: Summer School: Chapter Eight (2021)
I didn't like this episode
It just seemed so off from the vibe this show normally has. Plus, the racism was waaay over the top and just seemed completely unnecessary for the storyline.
The Lost Symbol: Murmuration (2021)
This show Jumped the Shark...
...by bringing out random brainscan tech that the writer clearly used to escape a tough story flaw.
The Mosquito Coast (2021)
Laughing at how they portray Stockton, CA
When I first realize that they are using Stockton California as the hometown I laughed. I live in Stockton, we are a Delta city, its mostly green here with all the water. The area they seem to show looks like Barstow or the Southern California desert.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Kano Wins!
I really liked this movie, it was good. I saw the original movie in theaters, and that was one thing but this was a whole different beast. But I have to admit I was rolling with laughter at Kano.
Kenan: Pilot (2021)
Awkward, Cringy Trash
First show in a very long time I actually had to force my way through it. I kept thinking at some point it was going to get better but it really doesn't. I have no idea what they were thinking, Kenan is usually funny, this was not.
