The Collective (2023)
Seriously?!?
Someone, I mean, lots of someone's, had to watch the edits. And think, yeah, that's good. How does Lucas Till keep getting action roles.. he still looks like a kid, and hasn't seen a gym or tanning booth. Looks like a bad version of MacGyver.
Don Johnson is super far from Crockett, and closer the Nash. Aside from being looked like it was filmed from someone's IPhone. The sounds editing is a joke. Literally sounds like they used cap guns.
So sad to see Ruby Rose and Tyrese taking the gig. Guess they spent too much money for them, and had nothing for writers, good cameras, good sound crews, and basically everything else.
Use to be so much better when actors would only take gigs that met their standards or helped their careers. Instead of taking anything that would pay em... smh.
Colosseum (2022)
Holy Commercials!!!!
I understand the need for revenue, but dang.... trying to watch streaming was a battle to its own. The production was as good a documentary as ever. There was no shortage of stories, so I guess greed has to be the only reason.
Westworld (2016)
Cool Premise
I dig the storyline, the writing, and the kick ass production value... only 1 small tick. Like everything is going pretty badass, then this bug kinda picks at my brain. I mean, I get all the characters. Every actor fits and you sincerely believe who they are.. Everyone except Aaron Paul. I truly believe the only character he played where you believed who he is, was Jessy Pinkman, the dope fiend in Breaking Bad. Without Pinkman, I don't think anyone would know who Aaron Paul is. He's such a bad actor, he never fits. He's the only thing I can critize about Westworld. That and a tad melodramatic. Almost perfect..... Casting directors probably kicking themselves. Good job on everything else.
Altered Carbon (2018)
Amped Up and Ready.......
After an amazing performance by everyone associated with Season 1, I was seriously charged and eagerly waiting Season 2. And then....
Right off the bat I was having difficulty with the lead... Joel Kinneman was awesome in Season 1. He flawlessly pulled off his role as Takeshi Kovacs, the famed last Envoy! You could tell Kinneman busted to fit into the role. Super ripped. The vilified hero. Up's and down's, anger and sarcasm, rage and bravery, Kinneman 's portrayal pulled Takeshi through the first season. He had to. That was the part, leading hero.
From what I've seen of Anthony Mackie so far with Avengers, Mackie just isnt lead material. No matter what the character, Mackie's parts always leaned heavily on other actors to give his roles depth. Hes doesnt have the dynamic aptitude for leading material. Basically, he's just bland. Season 2 will rely heavily on other characters to give Altered Carbon the depth the show had with Season 1. Not to mention, the physical state of Takeshi's 'sleaves.' Kinneman had it. You could tell he worked hard to have the 'military' tactical body the part called for. It is EXTREMELY difficult to believe Mackie has a 'super high tech' super sleeve that other Season 2's characters often commented on. And he needed other characters to bring the attention to it, because there is no way anyone would look and think..'he looks bad-ass.'
So, no spoilers. With soft acting and soft love handles, AC's casting really missed the mark . Severe let down after the wait.....
