The Professor (2018)
Slow but surprisingly good
I went in with low expectations (6.5-7) but I was pleasantly surprised. The movie has several scenes with great dialogue, with some emotional scenes that will likely move you to tears and some pretty decent (sometimes dark) humor. Don't have to be a Depp fan to enjoy this one
Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)
Hateful, unrealistic and full of jingoism
One of the cliche army movies based on a heavily biased story like with plenty of focus on "national pride" and super evil enemies (Pakistan).
Complete waste of time, please stay away!
Beoning (2018)
Left with many burning questions
This is a slow paced movie, with little dialogue but profound focus on body language (which I expect would take multiple watching's to really grasp). If that isn't what you're looking for its best to skip this movie.
Besides that, the movie was impact and full of mystery that leaves you with many questions not only because the main characters displaying unclear intentions but purposeful ambiguity. If you're like me then explore some of the comments with spoilers for more insight into understanding the movie (or maybe even more questions about the movie)
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
Emotionally moving love story
I don't often write reviews but I don't remember the last time a movie made me tear up so much. I felt like the characters at some points 'overrun with emotions' and with subconsciously teary eyes.
Everything in the movie was brilliant, the animation, the scenery and most of all the plot. The themes through the movie were strong, such as the talk of the threads of time or the ribbon, and much of the plot that at the time didn't seem very relevant came back in a way to remind the viewer. The ending was elusive too, I wished that they would remember each other and meet but weather they would or not remained uncertain.
I won't spoil what happened but I can confidently say its one of the best animated movies I've ever watched and I've watched several. Many of the themes felt similar to 5 Centimeters Per Second and if you liked that movie you'll definitely like this one.
One Day (2011)
Bitter sweet romantic story
I'm a 20 year old male. Personally I think this movie is underrated. Furthermore I think people are hating way to much on this movie, ignore them. In my opinion it was brilliant. The complaints about the movie being 'not British enough' are absolutely stupid. Not sure why people have such a huge problem with that. Not to mention the usual host of people complaining about inferiority from the book, honestly I've grown very tired of these comments on every single adaptation. The movie stands very well on its own. Summary: As long as you enjoy different types of movies and not just brainless explosions give this movie a chance and you'll be very pleasantly surprised.
From Prada to Nada (2011)
The so called top rated reviews are misleading
If I had one word to describe this movie, I would use the word 'awful' and as far as movies go that's a killer. I find it hard to believe that so many reviewers called this movie beautiful, it was nowhere close, a combination of a bad script and pretty awful acting, especially on the behalf of Alexa Vega the movie turned out to be quite a disappointment. Another thing is that the cover is misleading not that that makes a significant difference. Finding it hard to even fill in 10 lines about this awful movie with this kind of a plot where even the main actors has no morals it seemed, made the most absurd and unbelievable decisions and yet predictable. Worst part of it was the acting, all in all, don't watch it, its a waste of time and money.
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010)
Went in expecting a lot, came out extremely disappointed
When I read the reviews on IMDb for this film, I was very excited about watching it, a 7.2 is not easy to obtain on IMDb, and many of the so called 'best' reviews said it was a excellent movie and compared it to How to Train your Dragon and Toy Story 3, it wasn't. This was an awful movie, with dialogue such as 'We must uphold our oath, to battle' some of the most stupid and unnecessary lines were in this movie. This movie is not at all suitable for anyone above the age of 10 as it lacks a plot, and apparently both sides are in a competition of stupidity, the guardians decide to rush into the battle even when they know that the opposing forces have obtained a mysterious material from rat poop and the other side gives the guardians blatant evidence to prove that they have been betrayed so the hero can go save them. And the whole Gizard thing was beyond stupid and lame. All in all, awful movie. Not for anyone above the age of around 7.
The Karate Kid (2010)
What an ANNOYING kid!
This has to be the worst martial art movie I've ever seen, appalling acting from all the cast, awful direction and worst kid. The movie was beyond stupid, things were drawn from the stupidest stuff to make the movie different from others. Another thing that was annoying was the over use of the word 'dude' didn't know you could use it 5 times in the same sentence when you are sober.. well. I did learn one thing from this movie though, the Chinese are extremely violent and accept violence and vandalism as a daily part of life are are cool with it. My advice, don't watch it, its AWFUL. The only reason I watched this movie as far as I did was because I was stuck between my friends in a cinema and couldn't get out, it was hell.
Death Note: Desu nôto (2006)
Mind blowing anime - Excellent to start with
Has to be one of the best animes I've ever watched, this has it all, the thrill the action, the romance and the rivalry. Its outstanding anime.
The rivalry between L and Kira is one of the best thing about it, it captures your attention from the very first episode and keeps it till the end, something that many animes fail to do but this one has you excited from the very start to end. The anime does lose its touch a bit after L dies and Nello and Mello come into the picture as L was an extremely central part of the story and it isn't quite the same without him but letting Kira be victorious would have made a bad plot line if L was given complete victory it wouldn't have been right. So its a pretty good ending as well.
Overall excellent anime 9.5 out of ten, keeps your interest all the way through and its fairly short a very good anime to start with if you've never watched any.
Shutter Island (2010)
Amazing!
I have to say, this movie was excelling, it was mind blowing to say the least, amongst the top 20 movies I've ever watched and I've watched quite a few. Brilliant movie making small hints about the plot were dropped through out like subliminal messages, making the movie just the more brilliant. The actors acted really well, another hit movie by Leonardo DiCaprio who's movies always seem to be brilliant. One thing that must be said is that this movie must be watched with concentration and in one go, its not worth it watching it in parts cause if you miss any of the plot and fail to get it the whole movie won't make any sense.. Try not to get spoilers about the plot of the movie, it'll ruin it.
I Think I Love My Wife (2007)
A fairly good Movie
To start off with I'd think I'd have to disagree with most of the public here, I think it deserved more around a 6.5 point average on IMDb. I'm a comedy lover, and so when I heard about this movie I had to watch it and it exceeded my expectations after the movies I've seen recently, it was a great movie, great but not there amongst the best nor deserving a spot in the Top 250. Basically what it boils down to in my opinion is that if you like comedy movies, movies with a moral, or movies involving relationships then i say go for this movie, or if your just bored and have time on your hands then this will be a good way to spend some of it.
The Skeleton Key (2005)
The Skeleton Key is fairly good movie which is worth watching
A horror movie with a justified PG-13 rating. I feel that The Skeleton key's strong points would probably be the character developments and the plot in which the past of the house was presented pretty well.
Maybe the negative aspects are present for people who love horror movies, this being a PG13 movie does not have many horrific scenes and does not create the environment some people like. There are quite a few interesting moments including a excellent twist at the end, which enhances the quality of the movie and in my opinion is the best part of the movie, just adding to the quality of the movie.
There are a few other horror movies out there which would be better than Skeleton Key but never the less Skeleton Key is better than most others in its field and is worth it, especially for children since they cannot watch other R rated movies it is a good film.
