The Beach Bum (2019)
Vomit comes to mind
I never thought that throwing up during a movie was possible for me until I stumbled upon this mess of a film. Keep your empty popcorn bag nearby for your vomit. You'll need it after a few scenes of human degradation that's depicted in these characters.
I am an avid lover of good films (think Akira Kurosawa, David Lean, Alfred Hitchcock, Ingmar Bergman, etc. ) and have attended numerous regional international film festivals with great delight here in the United States. So it's not often that a film offends my sensibilities as much as this one did. I don't care to elucidate all the depravity I witnessed but there was enough for me to decide to cease watching any more of it. Save yourself that experience and turn it off, walk out of the theater, whatever ....just dust off this cr@p and carry on.
Floating Horses: The Life of Casey Tibbs (2017)
Never knew this real cowboy until this film
This is my favorite documentary about a true Western cowboy. If I hadn't seen this film at it's premier showing during the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, I would've never known about this incredible horseman and Hollywood Actor. Former Presidenr Gerald Ford'a son, Steven Ford (an actor and local resident) was onstage at the SLO Film Festival Festival to discuss Casey Tibbs.
The young filmmaker spent an enormous amount of time and effort to compile old homemade movies and other film footage to create the riveting story about this American cowboy. I was so impressed with the chronological flow and the description of him and of the times. I believe this film deserves to be shown to high school and college American History students on campuses .
Tibbs accomplished so much for the Western cowboy and rodeo during his lifetime. Highly recommend this documentary.
