Black Mirror: Striking Vipers (2019)
People are forgetting what Black Mirror is
Black Mirror has always been a dark reflection of reality where technology is advancing while humanity is declining.
The point of the show is to portray human issues and emphasise them with technology. This episode does that perfectly, it's all about human relationships and unknowing and confusion, mistrust etc etc... Without spoiling anything the conclusion to the show isn't "happy" as some have said, it's not even trying to suggest its a good ending, it's presenting you with an idea and making you question it and ask yourself big questions about small topics. Don't watch Black Mirror expecting a twist, ever, if it happens, you're shocked, if it doesn't, you're still having a great experience!
Acting was phenomenal and subtle, yet again they do a great job at fleshing our three dimensional characters in half the time a feature film does! The cinematography was great, they do some unique things with symbolism and just style in general! And the story told is slower than some BM episodes but I wouldn't say boring like many have. Don't watch BM for thrilling experiences, it's rare in this show and if that's why you're watching it then you're not the target audience. One of the best episodes in my opinion! Made me think
Maniac: The Chosen One! (2018)
Give it time
This episode is slow and boring, however, it's somewhat necessary in order to build up the audiences relationship with Owen (Jonah Hill), yes it could've been paced a lot better but I think the writers and Fukunaga are trying to accurately represent Owen's state of mind through this episode. The show DOES pick up and gets a lot more exciting with a unique and compelling emotional story, please stick with it - it's worth it
