Fool Me Once (2024)

Interesting enough
2 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I was intrigued and wanted to see how it panned out.

However, at some point I started watching at 1.5 speed and began skipping through all the subplots like the detective fainting every minute and the kids' step bro etc. It was just too much.

It's odd but I felt like the plot both dragged and felt too rushed at the same time - rushed because sooo many conversations between characters never reached a point of conclusion and it seemed like no one could explain themselves properly - they would always say a few jumbled lines, forget to ask the real questions, then rush off because they got a phone call or something.

One of the best

Warning: Spoilers
This one will go on my list as one of the best Hallmark Christmas movies. Loved that they used a different storyline, borrowed from the beautiful real life story of the grandma who invited perfect strangers to Thanksgiving off a mistaken text.

The 2 leads are 2 of my favourites from the usual lineup. They're natural and believable in their roles. And how cute was Nana and Carter!

My only peeve was the lack of research on Australia and the comically fake Aussie accent by the guy on the phone. In the first few mins of the movie Addie says she prefers to visit Australia in summer instead of Christmas....but Christmas time IS summer here.

Anyway, that aside, it was a lovely movie that I'd rewatch again for sure.

I like Gabrielle but...

Warning: Spoilers
I wish they'd done her hair, makeup and wardrobe a little differently. Somehow she didn't look as gorgeous in this movie as we know she usually looks.

And I wish they didn't write her character like she was a 20 something with all the over the top emotional reactions to everything.

I know not everyone in their 40s is emotionally mature but Jenna was supposed to be a professional woman with quite a bit of life experience and relationship experience. So it was surprising that the young guy's character seemed more mature and grounded than hers did.

Overall I didn't mind the storyline. It was sweet and they seemed to have good chemistry.

Not sure about this one

Warning: Spoilers
What made it hard for me to watch is how actually stupid this kid is, someone who is supposed to be smart because he's a lawyer and who even if he didn't somehow have proper CIA training would have seen shows and movies about how things work.

So how then is his character so absolutely stupid?

And how is there no growth or learning over 8 episodes - he continues to be dumb, continues to make the same mistakes and never learns. This was the most annoying thing for me.

The second most annoying this is his roommates, including the ex. Immature, nosy, don't respect his space and boundaries and don't get me started on the ex who runs all over the world looking for him while he's out there screwing everybody.

To begin with if I lived with a CIA employee I would automatically assume the apartment and my phone is bugged and I'll ensure I never have an incriminating conversation.

The good part - some aspects of the plot pulled me in and I think the show was well produced.

Ideas for Season 2
2 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Hear me out:
  • She sees Jennifer Lawrence in one of the sleepy chambers, wakes her up and they fall in love.

  • She hallucinates again but this time it's George Clooney at an airlock trying to get in.

  • She makes it back to earth but everyone from 1899 is now really old and she's only aged a few months because...space.

As for my review of this series, I only got up to episode 4 on x1.25 speed then skipped to the last episode because nothing made sense.

Was hoping she and the captain would end up together but I also acknowledge that this wasn't a Hallmark film so my fault for having misplaced expectations :(

Not exactly NCIS

Warning: Spoilers
Apart from the fact that I spent the entire movie thinking that was Joel McHale, I thought it was a cute movie.

Their acting as detectives was such a fail though, lol.

If Miller was really the baddie, he would have hacked them both in their sleep a long time ago.

Every time they stood out in the front yard discussing the case or calling each other "detective" in full earshot of everyone else, I cringed.

Was nice to see Tamera on screen and that may have skewed my rating a bit :) I just have to comment on the character who thought it was ok to keep hitting on someone else's supposed husband. Who does that?

Stayed true to both sides
17 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Many times movies try to tell women what type of life they should pick by showcasing one lifestyle negatively and another positively.

I'm happy that this showed highs and lows in both scenarios and that at the end she found joy and fulfilment in both.

It's not that hard to follow the rules
7 August 2022
As someone who also came into Australia, I zipped through immigration and was hopping in a taxi in no time ---- because I followed the rules.

For those going on about apples and bananas, a law is a law.

I understood I was entering someone else's country and there are laws I need to abide by.

And for those who insist on bringing cooked food in their suitcase, my question is WHY????

There's an abundance of food in Australia. And you can find dishes and ingredients from so many foreign cultures here so why embarrass yourself like this?

And you know what --- if you want to only eat stuff from your home country, STAY HOME.

You're coming to Australia so eat what's bloody available here and leave your pork rolls at home.

Christopher McDonald is such a cutie
8 July 2022
^ That's all I came to say.

But since my review needs to be 150 characters, I'll also say this episode was visually stunning, had a great story and had enough of those eerie moments that added intrigue e.g. Guinan seeing Tasha for the first time and the C captain realising something was up before Picard told her.

I've only just discovered this series and I think the cast was perfectly selected and are so believable in their roles.

Each episode is a fun caper that pulls you in.

It was fun

If you go into it knowing it's just a fun little movie, you'll enjoy it. Perhaps not as good as the 1st but definitely better than the 2nd.

Really nice to see the recurring cast.

Should be a documentary for young women
10 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In my own personal story, it took 3 attempts to leave after going back.

I understand why some commenters are confused about why she went back but it's never black & white.

I hope young women especially who are looking for relationships and "love" understand the lessons that can be learnt from this show.

Loved it!

It was a true fairytale type of movie and very heartwarming.

Made me feel Christmassy although I watched it in June :) Loved the lead actors and thought they were all very believable in their roles.

Great movie
11 February 2021
I'm only now seeing this movie thanks to Netflix but after seeing the profound impact this teacher had on her kids, I found myself hoping that her real life ex-husband and all the teachers who fought against her in real life ended up feeling ashamed of themselves.

It's interesting that Erin was lauded as having unique methods in the classroom when in fact the most important thing she really did was care.

I wanted to really like it
5 June 2020
My biggest hangup with the show is that they never seem to showcase all the contestants. People spend 15 hours putting together something, the least you could do is show their finished work and give the artists some air time. Less of Kristen, more of the contestants next time please.

Flawed but great

Warning: Spoilers
From the first episode I began wishing someone would actually make a game like this (minus the bugs). Hyun Bin is superb and was such a convincing actor. I gave this a 10 because of Hyun Bin and because of the premise.

However, these are my cons: 1. I could have done without the romance element. She was too young, immature and had the same worried look on her face for all 16 episodes. I would have been happy if all her character did was get yelled at by Jin Woo for running a crappy hotel then selling the hotel to him.

2. It was annoying that for every 2 lines of script, someone's phone would ring. It would be at the least opportune time and they would all be ringing up each other and taking forever to get to the point.

3. The ending - yes it's everyone's pet peeve. It would have been nice to see him remain the Master and be reinstated as CEO and make a helluva lot of money by rolling out the game worldwide.

I kinda wish they had made this into a hollywood style movie intead, with a faster pace, lots of action, a more believable romance subplot and a satisfying ending.

Refreshing style of comedy
10 November 2019
I've always loved Seth and this special was the icing on the cake. It's done in his own personal style which I think works in this type of setting since he's very relaxed and conversational. And there were the funny little extras like his Skip button and the bit with his wife. Loved it.

The work that they do in people's lives is so needed. The Japan edition was heartfelt and seemed to really focus on helping the heroes/heroines open up more and be themselves.

Same outfit?
11 June 2018
Why does she wear the same outfits every day to work/yoga etc when she thinks it's a different day. She's supposed to remember that she already wore this "yesterday". Other than this detail, I was able to enjoy the movie and suspend all other belief.
