FUBAR (2023)
Too Much Family Drama
This would have been a lot more fun without all the father, daughter, wife, boyfriend drama. It really cut into the action and the rhythm of the show. Maybe they thought this should be more of a romcom with the spy theme on the side. Maybe they thought it would draw more women in to watch the show. I don't know. But, whatever their reasoning, it was a real buzz kill. It distracted from the funny, exciting parts of the show. I did a lot of fast-forward with my remote to get past the "relationship" segments.
Beyond that, it was an enjoyable and even, at times, an edge of your seat thriller. Reminded me of some of the original Schwarzenegger films with a little extra James Bond thrown in. Worth trying out, if you don't mind a lot of family pettiness.
Gotham (2014)
The Penguin an Riddler Show!
I just finished binge watching all five seasons of Gotham. All-in-all a good series, but a parallel Earth history of Batman and his associated characters. Takes a much different path on the origin stories of the friends and enemies of the Batman from most of the mainstream comics.
Most of the storyline seems built around the history and personalities of the Penguin and the Riddler and these characters are fabulous! Well written and well acted, they make the whole show. Compared to them every other character seems like an add-on or two-dimensional. Bravo to Robin Lord Taylor and Cory Michael Smith! Job well done!
The next best characters are Jim Gordan and Selina Kyle. Well done, but over simplified. Gordan is too much of a goody-two-shoes for my taste. Too ridged.
Many of the other characters seemed two-dimensional and felt as if they had been stuffed, awkwardly, into the story so as to fill out the roster of well-known Batman associates.
The first four seasons were by far the best with the fifth and final season feeling like they had "jumped the shark" just to have a bow wrapped finale.
For the most part, I really enjoyed the series, but they could have put more thought into it and done better.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
I Love This Show!
Fun show! Great characters! Good actors! I have a lot of fun watching this show and so look forward to checking out new episodes. I know there are a lot of negative reviews on here, but those are all submitted by small minded, limited thinking, linear projecting impotents. So many fan boys and girls want everything to be exactly like their precious comic books. Grow up! Things need to be adapted and changed to appeal to a television audience. This is a great adaptation! Love it, love it, love it! Just like Thor: Love and Thunder, you have to break from the boring old mold and seek out new territory.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Lots of fun!
I really enjoyed this movie! Reminded me a lot of the style of Thor: Ragnarok. Lots of color, humor, and laughs. A nice lighthearted and hopeful movie that is a nice change from so many of the doom and gloom projects out lately. Thumbs up!
The Terminal List (2022)
Shameful
Poor attempt to take a merciless, vengeful, obsessed serial killer, wrap him in the American flag, and try to turn him into a hero. A prime example of the type of shows that can make young people think it is better to pick up a weapon and use violence to solve problems rather than use avenues within the law and justice system.
There was absolutely no reason for James Reece to kill all those people. Less violent and extreme means could have been utilized to bring them to justice. A Navy Seal turning against civilians in his own country, dispensing "justice" at the end of a gun barrel? Making himself judge, jury, and executioner? I think not. The men and women of our special forces follow a higher code.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Great show. Love it! But.....
This is a great show. I love it. But, they need to drop the "Pike sees his fate and is haunted by it" trope. It's putting a drag on the storytelling and adding a dark cloud to the fun of the show. It was one thing to hint at it in the beginning, but I don't want to deal with it in every episode. The writers need to lighten up.
Halo (2022)
Love it!
First episode is great! I remember playing Halo when I was younger. This show goes into much more detail. Makes the characters more rounded, three dimensional, and relatable. I hope the rest of the episodes are as good as the first! I will be watching.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
Revisionist history.
Revisionist history that does have some interesting aspects. Lots of action and strong characters, but sometimes it goes so far away from reality that it hurts. But, gold six-shooters? Really?
Evil (2019)
Odd mix of genres.
Odd mix of genres. I wish they would pick one. Don't care for the female lead or the children.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
That Was The Hard Way To Do It
Next time, don't wait until most of the human race is killed off. Instead, send a message 30 years back into the past describing the area the aliens first appeared, and let your parents and grandparents in that time go find the alien ship, blow it all to hell, and then everyone can be back safely in their beds by dinner time!
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Fun Movie!
I got a big kick out of this movie. Got to see a different version of Wonder Woman from the first movie and from Justice League. There was a lot of 1980's campiness which is always fun and the pace of the movie was fast enough to keep me interested. A real fun movie for the weekend and binging out on the sofa with some soda and popcorn!
Synchronic (2019)
Almost, but not quite.
Interesting concept and excellent base material and acting, but the writing fumbled what could have been a very good story.
The Boys (2019)
Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!
Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Cruelty. Gore. Over the top violence. Just a nasty series with a nasty theme. I thought I could make it through a few episodes, but it was bad acting, horrible gore, and a stupid plot all laid on so thick I couldn't stomach it. One of the worst series on Amazon.
The Last Days of American Crime (2020)
Horrible!
Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Further proof that Netflix's 'algorithm' for finding new hit series and movies involves nothing more than throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks.
The 100 (2014)
Dumb show.
Lame story lines. Selfish, self-centered, narcissistic characters that wouldn't survive a week in real life situations. More interested in character driven drama than actually trying to rebuild society.
Justified (2010)
Great show!
I have been binge watching Justified from the beginning the last few weeks. Great show! Good actors, easy to watch, and well written. My only complaint is that they keep trying to pass off Raglan Givens as some sort of Don Juan. Almost every woman that crosses his path in this show is very attractive and makes it clear, one way or another, that she wants to bed Raylan. It's very annoying and very unrealistic. The writers fantasies keep leaking into the script. Bad form.
Men in Black: International (2019)
Best Men In Black Movie Ever!
Went to see this movie with friends. We all loved it. Lots of fun!
Another Life (2019)
Tedious Millennial Chowder
Does anyone do a psych evaluation on the crew members in sci-fi space adventures before they launch the craft from Earth? Toss together a crew of maladapted millennials and send them on a death defying mission to an alien world and you get................. a salad!!! Every bad decision possible and every tear duct exhausted. Sigh, so much potential, so little success. I'm going to go back and watch reruns of 1960s Star Trek. Cheesy sets, but good plots, good acting, and well trained starship crews. :)
Exposed (2016)
Horrible!
Horrible, horrible, horrible! I'm dragged through 9/10ths of this movie thinking it is some sort of supernatural police drama only to find out at the end that it is nothing more than another movie about a woman who was sexually abused by her father as a child, and later raped as an adult, and all the "supernatural" visions in the movie are really just her mind playing tricks on her. There have been 10,000 movies made about this topic. No one cares anymore!!!! When will Hollywood learn???!!!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Too dark, too depressing, and too heavy.
Once again a streaming network has hired writers that write scripts that are too dark, too heavy, and too depressing. They need to learn to lighten up a bit and maybe take some writing hints from the people over at the Marvel movies (not the TV shows, they are too dark, too). Could be a good show, but I always feel depressed and sick after watching a couple of episodes. Not good for binge watching.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Great MCU movie ....... but............
The movie is great and Marvel keeps kicking out fun shows. However, the logic of this scenario doesn't track. If these infinity stones are so powerful and bad, and if gathered together by Thanos they pose a threat to half the universe, then why weren't they gathered up, taken to the super-massive black hole at the center of our galaxy, launched into the gravity well and destroyed? No matter how powerful the blow-back from the stones, compared to a black hole that swallows star systems, planets, and other black holes for a snack everyday, they would be nothing. Once beyond the event horizon, NOTHING, not even Thanos could get them back.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
I love this new interpretation!
I love this new interpretation of the Star Trek universe! I have been a long time fan of TOS, TNG, DSN, Voyager, and Enterprise series but have found the standard "canon" view start to grow limiting and stale. The "rules" of "canon" have limited the potential scope of new series and movies. Hence, J.J. Abrams "alternate" universe for the recent Star Trek movies. He and the writers needed to have fresh air, elbow room, and an uncluttered horizon to create new adventures and situations for the coming crews and characters to face and deal with. It's in this same vision that I put ST: Discovery. New styles, new characters, new possibilities, new bold horizons. A much needed shot in the arm for the the future of the Star Trek franchises. Viva la Discovery! :)
