Master (2021)
Is Master the "Lokesh Kanagaraj" movie that we all waited for?
One of the most awaited and anticipated movie of the past two years, Master hits the screen with its lead roles played by the protagonist 'Thalapathy Vijay' , and antagonist ' Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi'. Although, this film is the clash between two Vijay 's , there are a lot of characters who acted their roles very well. Plot-wise, the First-half plays an important part in establishing all the characters and maintains the pace while keeping the audience entertained with Jhon Dhurairaj's (Vijay)quirky and funny character and Vijay's overall outstanding screen-presence. The second half speeds up while sticking to the plot while keeping all the humour bundled within the story. The elevation for the interval was a very good addition to the film.
Anirudh is a gift to the industry. His background score elevates the scenes by giving the audience twice the amount of impact for each scene. Most of the songs in this film are used in the background. Speaking of which, the songs seems to lack better placement. This does induce a little lag to the film.
Now, to the main question, Is this a Lokesh Kanagaraj film?.... Yes, but partially!
Even though the film has a lot of easter eggs and subtle dark humour, hints that foreshadow the upcoming events in the film, and anti-cliche elements which the director has successfully implemented... This movie seems to lack at logic at some places. Scenes have abrupt ending and audience aren't given enough time to take in the emotion in the second half, for which both the previous films of Lokesh Kanagaraj didn't have any issue.
In conclusion, this movie is a very good entertainer with a lot of fun elements(direct references as well) to wait for and a good script, with a new dimension to Vijay. Vaathi has single handedly revived the pongal excitement!
Greyhound (2020)
Intense, Entertaining,and Emotionally well balanced!!
Didn't even realize that an hour and a half passed by!. No extra build-ups and technical loop holes. Tom Hanks does his job perfectly without overdoing the emotional scenes. Well, I am not sure if the technical terms used in this film are accurate...But after browsing through other reviews, it seems that they are indeed very accurate!.
The Screenplay by Tom Hanks is very good. Never felt any confusion when a lot of characters report different things to the Officer...That is something that most of the Military films always miss!..
The only drawback(Which might seem too much to ask in a 1+1/2 hr film) is that other characters only get a subtle character depth, and their character arc is almost unclear.
Remo (2016)
Excellent Cinematography, music, and acting!..Top Notch
(Hated for being Fun and Entertaining. All the negative reviews are purely hatred and jealousy on the actor's growth)
//Review starts from here//
Remo, is great Rom-Com package with one of the best visually stunning cinematography. The story is all about a young man named Sivakarthikeyan(The actor's name itself), shortly SK, who admires 'Cinema' and tries to become and actor.
The Cupid; heavenly creature which puts people to love each other, finds a pair for the hero and , SK falls in love with a girl he sees accross the road.
//All these sequences are well executed and are beautiful to watch//
On the other side, a director needs a Man who can act as a Woman. Coincidentally SK meets the girl in his lady get-up, and finds out that he can get to know about her in this costume. The movie follows from here.
REVIEW
Sivakarthikeyan really put all his effort to act as a woman, and since the Make up and the costume never looks odd and always makes the actor look good, the acting just makes it even more lovable!
No such scene disappoint us to look at SK in that get-up.
The Cinematography is a feast for our eyes.
Music is top notch
The story is simply adorable.
THE NEGATIVES
A few loopholes, and the film takes a whole half of it to make the plot clear to the Audience.
Ethir Neechal (2013)
A mix of Humour, Motivation, and Emotional scenes neatly packed.
Ethir Neechal (Translation:- Swimming against the wave) is a mix of emotions, humour, and motivation.
//NO SPOILERS, JUST THE BASIC PLOT//
The story revolves around the boy named 'Kunjidhapadham'; a name given to him by his father on a sentimental situation. We see the hero grow from his childhood to adulthood, and how everything doesn't work out for him due to his name. He tries to change his name, now and then in frustration, but fails to do so.
He finally changes his name to 'Harish', and immediately starts to see the change in his life. He has always dreamt about becoming an athelete, and gets a chance to accomplish his dream.
He meets a coach, with whom he fails to make a good combination. His coach, being a desparate athelete herself, starts to annoy him at first.
When Harish almost starts to regret his decision, he tells gets to know the coach's past , and it was enough to convince him to get back into sports.
The climax sequence, and the humour is something to enjoy in the movie (So NO SPOILERS ON THAT)
Overall, a nice Package, a little Cliche and lags here and there!
