That bad?
22 November 2010
The negative reviews here are surprisingly harsh and undeserved. Do they really think that this one television show is causing their child to be whiny, spoiled brats? Please.

Caillou is a sweet show that presents the world from a 4-year old's perspective. It's completely harmless and the vivid colors, loving family, and grandmotherly narration are far superior to much of what's out there now (Dirt Girl World? Monkey See Monkey Do? Rubberdubbers?) The sensitive portrayal of different ethnic groups are an additional plus.

For us, nothing surpasses Sesame Street for sheer quality. Calliou isn't in that league, but it's not as bad as some here have suggested.

Good movie for teens
19 October 2007
Reinterpretations of past events/people/plays can be good... e.g. Romeo + Juliet (1996). This file, however, is for the young and impressionable. The film "looks" great, but it is devoid of wit and good dialogue (which made the French ancien regime, if pathetic, at least fun). Nobody has anything to say in this film. Why must so many new re-interpretive films lack good dialogue? (like Pride and Prejudice, 2005) Like the world in which we live live, that which is serious and compelling is reduced to a music video or magazine advertisement.

This film lasts too long and has nothing to say. If you're a vapid teen, you'll love this film because there nothing to THINK about... but there's loads to LOOK at.
