Bit slow to get going but loved it. Great horror/ thriller
7 June 2018
It is definitely worth seeing. Well acted will directed will produced well-written just a good all round film. Original with a satisfying ending (ie not ambiguous). I Can't recommend this highly enough. Hope it has good success, I expect word of mouth could be strong for this.

Lazy script writing used contrived plot devices making us hate main characters
3 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The seatbelt and situation where mother died were so horrificly contrived to get to the point where they had to run in panic to the shelter and were left on their own the problem is it made us hate the father for leaving the children made us hate the son for being a whiny turd, and hate the daughter for being stupidly irrational and hate the mother for being insipid so from the start we don't identify with and we don't like the characters so the Writer's attempt to make it dripping doomed the show for failure amongst those people who seen good script writing before, ie anyone over 20. Removing the father was a plot device for him to potentially be discovered 7 years later but all that would mean is that he was an awful father for abandoning his children. They tried but they failed, the characters are shallow and unidentifiable which is a shame because it had so much much potential. if you are a desperate for the apocalyptic theme yeah it's ok binge it in fast forward, if there's a flashback fast forward or dialogue between the characters fast forward you won't miss a thing

I dont know why I'm even giving it 2 stars eithet

When they have those actors and that budget at their disposal and they deliver this repulsive vile violent misogynistic hateful boring drama, something is wrong

filmmaking is not complicated make your main character's identifiable and have an antagonist thrown in to boot . Who iall have zero chemist or Charisma with the characters you care for no one or nothing

I have no idea how they could make this film so bad and utter mess up, avoid at all costs it will depress you and leave scars on your mind and soul if you watch this

I think it was entertaining

Actually no. It was just boring. Really, really boring. Good camerawork. I'm waffling on to reach the minimum length. This film just went on and on. It is a film I wish I died instead of them.

Terence Malik wannabe. Director wanted to make statement which came at the expense of the non existenr story

Don't watch....You will lose the next 10 hours it IS that good
1 April 2018
Original, engrossing, good enough acting, strong dialogue, excellent pacing.

Did you like aspects of BSG..of Gattaca? I could add another 10 shows but youll get it. The biggest disappointment you will have is that there is no season 2 while so many terrible shows are still on television.

Just a great series. You will absolutely binge this 20 minutes is enough to know if it's your thing.

How can a film with this much potential be this bad? You had to actually try- that's how
1 April 2018
Premise was good but started nonsensically slow for no reason. the breakdown moment was pretty ordinary, you could see that this was going to be an inside type film . ok so needed to be good in suspense but you could see how bad the acting was and you thought why did they choose why did they cast -these awful people who you had no interest in and who are such bad actors and then 10 minutes later you realise that they're just given awful Direction, dialogue and acting instructions. So much potential wasted it's the kind of thing I wish someone else did because they would have done 10 times better 3.5 could have so very easily been 7

It's just entertaining and you will enjoy it
18 March 2018
I rated 10 to balance the rotten downvoting. This film is really basic and delivers on its objective. To entertain and leave viewers happier after than when they started. On a budget smaller than my last entertainment allowance this guy made a film with global locations, reasonable acting and a compelling storyline where you the protagonists are identifiable and not off putting. Basically he ticked the boxes. He also showed hollywood that script matters, not big name actors. I read he cut corners by buying the actors a round the world ticket and crowd-funding props like classy cars and locations and actors doing on the cheap for the gig all on tourist visa's. Something like $300k to do the whole film which if you watch you won't believe is possible but they did it. The director is 24, and he made the entire film for $276,000, and shot it in 4K film in 8 weeks on 3 continents - absolutely amazing. This is not a top line blockbuster sop don't expect that. But it is entertaining and will be 10 x more enjoyable to watch than half the rubbish you will see this year. And this guy has shown plenty of producers what he can do on not even a shoestring. Quite frankly Hollywood should be worried how badly they have been exposed. As for the film no point to review it itself, its a good 6.5/10 and does its job. Watch the trailer that's what you you get. I don't re'watch films often but I'd be prepared to watch this again if it were on.

You'll enjoy it but it is completely forgettable
18 March 2018
A good watch but one that you will be pressing "fast forward 10 seconds" a lot because you don't really care that much for the main characters. At its simplest level this is an enjoyable film and with no more expectation than to be entertained you will be satisfied. Leto himself is most underwhelming, really they could have cast a potato to the role and we would have seen little difference. As for Post WW2? I had thought it was set in current day they just drove groovy cars. Otherwise its not too bad and some good use of colour and camerawork

Tried but had no idea

Warning: Spoilers
Clearly a newcomer to the genre who sacrificed realism for their message, of which I don't think they knew what it was. Come on, give us a degree of suspense. Make the protagonists situationally aware so we don't just think they are idiots who would have never made it 5 minutes if such an event really did occur. Did this one rip off "The Cell" with the scream, zombies standing still, the pointless pile of chairs? All of which served no point to the film. Note to writer(s)- don't send your person into unrealistic situations, don't split them up, don't waste their bullets, don't constantly have them making stupid decisions and do respect that as survivors they would have exit plans and not expose themselves to death so easily. And don't give us the close up so you can reveal the teleporting zombie that magically appears next to them ready to snarl at them and bite. Its tired, its cliche, its pointless, and it makes us hate your 1-dimensional writing and plot devices. So much potential, so little talent where it mattered

Happy! (2017–2019)

Huge potential but I ended up wanting the series to end, sadly
27 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Jury out for me on this. Main character was fine. By episode 2 I was hooked deep once I got over Happy being well, happy. I hated almost everyone else. Its deadpool meets shameless with an unnecessary (I don't care if it was in the comic either) dark subject line and everyone else was a 1 dimensional character who over acted. By the last episode I was over it. I just don't care for being hit over the head with kids being kidnapped by bad acting over the top nutjob bad guy. And I really hate the whole New York Italian mafia thing. Never mind the premise of the password and the information it contained was completely irrelevant in the end and the huge season long set up ended in a few uneventful confusing minutes. I'm sure it will become a cult classic but give me an episode of him killing the mafia guys and him being Shameless. The rest was completely forgettable.

Accident Man (2018)

Not sure if it liked it. Fell asleep
27 February 2018
I fell asleep during Accident Man. I really like Scott Adkins (Boyka) but I don't know about this. Too much non-contact in the meant to be "wow" fight scenes I think. He tried to do a Guy Ritchie meets Jason Statham. Maybe it pulled it off. Perhaps its hard to feel positive for the protagonist who kills innocent people. Its a fine line to have the audience root for the bad guy, which we like to do. I don't think they achieved that here, so if you can't identify with the main character, well, I fall asleep. You be the judge. Its not bad, its just ordinary with enough clever moments to sustain it for a while.

I think they pulled this off

This is a pretty violent film. But read the plot yes that's what you're in for. You will be entertained. Full credit to all involved. This is not an easy type of film to make and they did it. Its a film to watch by yourself and it stays on course the whole way through. Actually at the end you'll think its hit the right spot and pulled itself off quite well. I hate torture porn and pointlessly violent films. I enjoyed this

Films don' thave to be blockbusters to be enjoyable
20 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
You know what, this wasn't too bad at all. I think it tried to be something else (ie Interstellar) and maybe decided that half way through when it had dragged on and maybe they didn't know where it was heading. In any case, persevere, if you have free time watch it. Don't be afraid to fast forward through some interpersonal dialogue, in the scheme of the movie most of it is not material. I've watched a lot worse and been entertained. If you like sci-fi, and a bit of mystery, drama and arthur c clarke, why not. Also, its a positive film and this works well in this one. Give it a go if you can enjoy these kind of films you won't be disappointed. Actually you'll probably be uplifted after Its not a blockbuster but it is entertaining, and family friendly content

I'm not sure what just happened. I think I liked it
20 January 2018
This isn't one for critical acclaim. But I think a few people wlll be telling friends to have a look at this one. Violent oh yes. One to watch with friends or family? No I don't think so. Watch by yourself. I think you'll enjoy it. Won't be surprised if people remember this one in 10 years. Or longer. Wish I could say more in the review, but this film speaks for itself. Director did a good job with the ending too. Played it out properly, no room for confusion or ambiguity

I'm not sure it knew what it wanted to be
20 January 2018
Potential. But I think it failed to convert from the book into a film. The backdrop with violent kids just rampaging, and no one paying attention to that, to the ending that offered nothing. I have no idea what the film was wanting to achieve. I think they wanted to make this a triple series but maybe realised it was just weak material and gave up. either that or the editor is owed his or her $500 fee and withheld the last 20 minutes of the film. Watch it or not it is one of those that won't make a difference. Sad really, had a lot of potential in there. I think you could have gone to 20 random people in the street and they could have made that 50% better

There are no words. From the first scene, to the last, it hurt. Its not possible to have gotten a film THIS bad. I mean truly. They had to try, physically try, to do this. Hollywood is dead. They have nothing left, nothing. They need to apologise. As if they didn't before. But there are no words. All associated with this film must be deeply ashamed and embarrassed. Someone must have picture of Bruce. I don't even know what the 1 was for. All grades over 4 star are employees of the film or studio
