Robin's Wish (2020)
9/10
What was Robin's wish? ... Thank you SHB_73!
24 April 2022
I loved this wonderful and heartbreaking film about Robin, a truly loving and wonderful person, who no doubt, had his flaws. I was puzzled by the title, and didn't notice any obvious answer in the film. I read the reviews just to see if anyone would explain this. SHB_73 included a brief quote from the film that I remembered from the film, so I'm pretty sure that was the basis for the title, but wish they'd made more of it. I gave it 9 stars because I liked zkonedog's point of view.

Harry Nilsson: Loneliness (1984 Music Video)
10/10
I LoveHarry Nilsson!

Thank you, to Rodrigo Amaro for your review with details, so I know that the YouTube video is the same as this short film. You can watch it on the "Harry Nilsson Archive" channel on YouTube. This is a great song. I had no idea Yoko Ono wrote it. Bless her, I sorely miss John Lennon even more than Harry, but wish they were both still here, beloved humans.

Honestly, this should be Best Picture, it's not a "musical or comedy" wtf!
3 January 2020
I have seen many of the films up for the Golden Globe for best picture. I loved Rocketman and JoJo Rabbit, I didn't like Joker, Irishman was okay. Marriage Story was great, but so sad and depressing. I had no idea what to expect with this film, but I loved it all the way thru, especially how it all tied together at the end. I don't know why this is listed as a comedy. There was some amusing bits, but it was hardly a comedy. Why goober decided to label it that? And I especially dont get the multitude of bad reviews, except if people were expectin a comedy, duh! It is a drama story, period! It is every bit as good as Marriage Story, and a whole lot more interesting and fun to watch. A worthy movie with a real heart and soul. Lots of good food for the soul in this. Shame on the doofus who labeled it a comedy. This is my pick for Best Picture, if only I had a vote. :)

And Cate better win the BestActress! i hope i hope... the bad reviews were really sad to see, because most people would enjoy this, if they weren't expecting something else.

Hard Eight (1996)
6/10
I really enjoyed it, up until...
24 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this film as I watched it for the first time last night. I loved the cast, and was waiting expectantly, to see where the story would go... but it never really developed, and suddenly just cut itself short with some unbelievable story wrap-ups. That is, Sydney meets some desitute hitchhiker at a truck stop diner, and takes him under his wing, to teach him to gamble, but we don't see much, and then in the end, turns out Sydney had murdered his father, which was why he was doing this... it didn't make any sense, in reality, and just seemed like a cheap-shot writing job to make a movie out of pity little story. What a waste of such a good cast.

bitter-sweet fantasy for pale-faced self-obsessed faux-liberals
13 April 2019
I really enjoyed this film, but couldn't forget that it was a feel good movie about gross wickedness committed against under-dogs, for the pleasure of the children of the killers, to feel good about themselves and pretend they are not responsible for the continued devastation of the descendents of these "savages." How many stars should this get? 10? zero? what's the difference. The natives are still being oppressed by our hateful money-driven capitalist system.

Can Ellen Be Saved? (1974 TV Movie)
10/10
I remember this movie. richard.fuller1 is confused about this film
22 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The review by Richard Fuller1 is strangely detailed with names and actions, but the actions do not reflect anything from this film that he pans, and excuses himself for being 8 years old when he saw it. For example, he mentions drug use, but Ellen didnt use drugs. It was her friends who tempted her to do drugs. Read the review by nihilistwonder if you want to know about this film. Forget richard.fuller1's comment and poor rating.

This was a worthy film, in its time. Somebody should start showing it again on one of these tv movie channels.

What the world needs now, is de-programmers, sweet deprogrammers.

but not bullies, just real deprogrammers to re-educate the masses and help people think straight, to uncover the hypocrisy and fraud purporting itself to be the truth... but even if such people existed, who would listen? it would be boring, of course, as we have a tendency to love dreams more than realities. Thus the maxim: a sucker is born every minute, or something like that.
