El espíritu de la colmena (1973)
A Spanish gem
Why do we watch films? The question always arises in the mind of a conscience striken viewer. Is it to pass the flow of time or to capture the flow of time? The Spirit of Beehive unsettles everything I have known about so far. The hauting, allegorical tale about childhood meaning something transcendtal : an unknown mystery which the director wants to keep it as an open ended. The tale has been told by the two children and perfectly so to evoke the unknown lurking behind. The eye of a children certainly tells more than the gesticulation of adults. Children became the bearers of the story. The mood, color palette everything bode perfectly well with story telling. The dysfunctional family, extra marital affair, fascism at the gate everything conjure up a foreboding narrative and we become a silent observer till the last moment of the film.
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018)
The film toys with one of the greatest event of post-independent India and turns it into jingoistic theatrics which suit our current political scenario.
A rare attempt to portray historical event through commercial garb and ultimately fails .
Mulk (2018)
A torchlight in the dark arena
Some of you might have heard "gangs jamuni tehzeb" or "hum log apas mein bhai bhai" , but under that goody goody expression, there lies deep torrent. Our inner hyena comes out and shatters the entire fabric of society. The time which we are passing through , this film testifies our mood and public life which are shrinking in day-by-day.
