Secrets (1971)
Afternoon Affairs Lead to "Secrets"
Everyone in the family had an affair one afternoon. The Mother, the Father, and their Young Daughter had a flirtation. Each person they all had an affair with gave each one a present, and that evening when they came home each had a Secret, and each gave the present to another family member. The husband gave his present to his wife, the wife gave her present to her husband and the daughter gave her present to Daddy. SECRETS. I found this movie through a service that copies old VHS and hard to find films, they copy them to DVD. Mommy and Daddy had full-blown a afternoon affair.
28 Days Later... (2002)
Fast Zombies, No slow waling Zombies here
28 Days Later, If zombies are your thing this film would have to be on your list. What makes this film different from other zombie movies is the fact that the zombies in this movie are fast, they don't just shuffle along. The zombies in this movie will run you down, and chase you like there is no tomorrow. If you are not in good shape, you are going to get caught.
Brooklyn (2015)
A Beautiful and Moving Film - A Love Story.
A beautiful and moving film. A love story that draws you in, and is told so well that you care about the characters almost immediately. The photography and the close-ups are really beautiful, and the camera loves Saoirse Ronan. She leaves Ireland and she is off to America, (Brooklyn). Her trip to America is shot so economically, yet powerfully, you could feel what it must have been like on that Ocean Liner. Homesick and missing her widowed Mum and Sister she makes a home for herself in Brooklyn. But will she stay in Brooklyn? The cast is amazing, Julie Waters, Jessica Pare, and Jim Broadbent, to mention a few. The wardrobe was authentic , and the soft warm colors seemed to give this film a dreamlike feeling. But In the end it was all about Saoirse, she carried this film, there was never a false moment. When she was homesick, you knew it, you could feel it. I love "BROOKLYN".
Godzilla (2014)
A disappointment
I wish I had read the reviews before I plunked down $20 for the purchase of this film. I was influenced by the trailer, and I did not think that this would be a terrible movie. I was wrong to think that, and I hope not to make that mistake again. It is true that most of the people who reviewed this movie note that there is no original storyline here, the monster Godzilla has approximately 20 minutes of screen time, near the end of the movie. I cannot recommend this movie as purchase or a rental. If you are going to wait for it until it is on cable or broadcast TV, that is OK, but even there I would warn you that you could spend your time better watching a better movie.
There are some major stars in this movie, all are wasted on a script that has nothing new to say or advance the legend of Godzilla, to put is simply this is a terrible script. Two of the major stars of the movie are killed off early on. Stars that I was hoping I would get to see throughout the movie. This movie was a major disappointment.
The Fall (2013)
5 Great Episodes, Worst Ending Ever...
All 5 episodes of "The Fall" were great. Well into the 5th episode you wonder how this suspense thriller is going to be resolved. But sadly, it is not. This is one of the worst endings I have ever seen in this type of 5/episodes, 5/days mini series format. When its over you just say to yourself, "are you kidding me". You couldn't wrap this thing up? If you sit through 5 episodes of a thriller, you are invested in the outcome, it seems to me that it is incumbent on the writers, producers/directors to not do that to your viewers. The ending made me angry, and sad at the same time. To begin with this thing is a creep/fest, it will creep you out, so how does sitting through something that is creepy make any sense? At the end the guy gets whats coming to him, there is a resolution,... except here, there are no resolutions. Watch it and judge for yourself.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
Another great one from the Coen Brothers
INSTANT CLASSIC.: YES this film is as good as the critics say. YES the performances are as good as the Academy says. NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN is one of my favorite films and I have watched it many, many times. Javier Bardem, makes an excellent screen villain, this guy is really scary, you would not want him chasing you. Josh Brolin, and Tommy Lee Jones turn in Solid Performances, and Woody Harrelson also. I'm saving my praise for KELLY MACDONALD, one of my favorite actors. KELLY nails that southern accent. which is always surprising because her speaking voice is so Scottish, she does not have a lot of screen time but when she is on screen, you will know, you are watching a great performance. I absolutely give NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN <> Ten Stars 10**********
