Fatma (2021)
8/10
A surprise gem
26 June 2021
Not at all what you expect. Very suspenseful and keeps you watching. I really felt for Fatma and what she goes through and the actor playing her is excellent. A revenge show with a twist. It may be in Turkish, but give it a go.

I really enjoyed this. The storyline was interesting and kept you intrigued. The actors are excellent. I liked that it was set in Spain as it aids with the mystery and atmosphere.

Halston (2021)

For those interested in fashion design
26 June 2021
This is a good show for people who like fashion design or those really interested in Halston. For others there is not much there. Ewan McGregor is very, very good and embodies the character, but the show is very superficial in my opinion.

Great show

Kate swindler is excellent in this and it's worth watching for her performance alone. The case is intriguing and you are kept interested throughout the series.

Brutal snapshot of history , but lovely scenery
7 May 2021
An engaging movie which attempts to integrate indigenous Australian culture through POV, music and language. I particularly enjoyed the long shots of the beautiful scenery and the contrast of the two cultures and their interaction with each other and the landscape. I did not find it biased politically, as some other reviewers claim, as the movie simply lays out the events in an impartial way. Unfortunately, these things did actually happen and need to be acknowledged. I did think the characters were underdeveloped and many of the actors were given little to work with eg Aaron Peterson. The story is simplistic but I guess this is part of the limitation of trying to get a big message across in just one movie.

Keeps you interested

Warning: Spoilers
I found this series extremely interesting and suspenseful. It's based on a true story and will especially interest true crime fans. I loved the visuals of Thailand and other places in Asia as I have fond memories of visiting there myself. The crimes are shocking and it is unbelievable that they went undetected for so long. I think most of the actors did a good job. I was a little surprised a French actress was not used for Marie, but to be honest I am an English speaker and could not tell that the Dutch and French was not accurate. I am Australian and was a little taken aback by the portrayal of the Aussie diplomat, I hope that is not how the rest of the world sees us! In general, an interesting and engaging series based on an unbelievable true story.

Enjoyed season 1
2 May 2021
Season 1 is entertaining with lots of characters and plot lines to keep you interested. I enjoyed seeing the cons and actually cared if the characters were in danger. In season 2 my interest wained as I found it was boring and I no longer cared what happened so I tuned out.

Disappointed
18 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Don't bother. The jumbled up timeline is annoying and means all the suspense and momentum is lost. Poor casting of the main characters. Not a patch on the mini series or book and is clearly just riding on the current Stephen King craze.

It's scary what people do to each other
18 April 2021
An interesting premise. Generally scary and shocking in places. The actions by real people was by far the most frightening which goes to show how bad people can be to each other. Only negative is that it drags a little and could have been cut down to 8 episodes.

Enjoyable just don't take it too seriously

Warning: Spoilers
Entertaining and enjoyable enough to watch. Very unrealistic, so don't take it too seriously. The 1960 and 1980 storyline were the best and most interesting. I found the modern day storyline to be the weakest link with a mediocre plot and so-so acting. 7 overall.

Psychological thriller keeps you guessing
7 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Perfect for binge watching. Keeps you guessing with twists and turns. Acting is great and the characters are interesting. The show is British which I feel makes it more relatable and down to earth. The only downside is the mystical elements and the weird ending. I guess they felt the need to have the requisite twist' at the end. A solid watch.

Not perfect, but a decent watch
4 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
An interesting premise and enough suspense to keep you watching. Acting is very good but the way the characters act is at times ridiculous. Some interesting sub plots to keep you guessing. Ending could be better. They are definitely trying to keep things open for a season 2. Not sure this would be a good idea.

This show has it all - suspense, spy work, interesting historical context, characters you engage with and excellent music. What more can you ask for?

Average watch if you have free time
17 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Reece is good. Washington is not. If you like the book note that there are some changes to the story. Mia is much more judgmental and annoying. Elena is more normal and likeable at least at first. Most of the kids are one dimensional and totally stereotypical, but the actors are okay. The ending is totally ridiculous, sorry. A passable watch if you have free time in lockdown.
