The Hole (2009)
10/10
Creepy & Intense children's thriller
25 September 2010
The Hole 3D is an intense thriller directed by Joe Dante and stars Teri Polo, Chris Massoglia and finally Haley Bennett. It's about a family who move into an abandoned house in peaceful suburb and small town. To begin with the film starts out as your average children's film with a few laughs and loving family setting but as the story slowly starts to unfold they discover a mysteries Hole under their home. This is when things start to change, not only does it keep the loving family remedy but secrets are unearthed and for a film that has been given a 12A certificate it's actually pretty scary. I went to watch this film with my uncle, younger brother aged 20 and his girlfriend aged 19 and seriously, without a doubt she admitted to us that she was scared. The camera work and unseen presence is great in The Hole 3D, I highly recommend going to watch this film, you'll love it from start to finish.

Fun & Frantic 95 minutes of comedy
24 July 2010
Okay well as a guy who for many years now has dated and been with older women I just had to go and watch this film. Not only does it star two great actors, Catharine Zeta Zones and Justin Barber but there are also two amazing young kids that add to the humour and inspiration behind the story. As you can tell from the films trailer it's about a lad who is in his early 20's and becomes attracted to a newly separated woman in her late 40's. There are many websites and viewers that have tried slating this film but personally I think that's just down to the way the public look at older younger relationships. For a comedy film based around the term older younger relationship it was very funny and reminded me a lot of the 80's comedy films from John Hughes, go watch this film if you're after a fun and frantic 95mins of comedy.

Shank (2009)
8/10
Realistic and Graphic
9 April 2010
So this film Shank…. I was round at a friends house one night and I must stress he his gay, now he knows that I'm not but I'm also very much into my films. With a huge smile on his face he hands me a DVD and told me not to ask any questions but just watch it and review it so here I am doing just that....

For the first few scenes of this film it comes across as very graphic, I won't say exactly how graphic but let's just say in terms of films that have concentrated on subjects such as the one portrayed it's the most graphic I've seen. It's clearly stated in the summery and plot synopsis that it's about a lad that after a chance meeting hits off a relationship but not just that this film has such a strong message on the kinds of things young gay couples or teenagers who think they are gay go through when it comes to telling family members and friends.

Yes this film is also very graphic in terms of violence, in fact the finale of this film was very graphic, in some ways I wish I could have turned it off but I continued watching for the fact that the story of fear, changes and the intense storyline makes you want to watch it through till the end but trust me when you do finally make it to the end there is one last twist which will leave an impact in different ways on different people. If you're gay, straight or even bi try and get a copy of this film, even if your friends take the mick out of you for doing so then once you've watched it convince them to watch it and trust me they'll see that this film is much more than just a film about a lad figuring out that he's gay, it's something much different.

Heartwarming and so real
21 March 2010
Starring Johnny Depp in the films lead role as Gilbert Grape alongside Leonardo DiCaprio as Archie Grape the autistic brother to Gilbert we soon from the opening scenes get the sense of a town being somewhat of a prison for the kids living there. You can tell straight away that Gilbert wants to leave but he's constantly pulled back into the lifestyle of looking after his younger brother and very overweight mother, he just wants to what's right by his family. If you want to watch a film that is so true to life in so many respect then What's eating Gilbert Grape is the film for you because once those end titles role up the screen you'll be left feeling so grateful for what you have and so sorry for the people that have to deal with the things shown in this film.

Life Unexpected (2010–2011)
10/10
Emotional and Fulfilling
19 January 2010
Life Unexpected from CBS & Warner Bros channel The CW is about a 15-year-old girl trying to get herself emancipated to get away from the foster care system. Before I heard about this show I was hooked on another CW show One Tree Hill but then "Life Unexpected" popped up and I just thought "I have to watch this" because not only does it look different but from previews it looks exciting.

From the opening of the first scene right up to that finale of the first episode you can really feel the emotion that our main character Lux, played by Brittany Robertson is putting out to the audience followed closely behind her co-characters Cate Cassidy, played by Shiri Appleby and Nate, played by Kristoffer Polaha. By the way let's not forget the amazing Karr Smith who plays a love interest Ryan Thomas who ultimately gets caught up in the deep history as it unfolds.

At the end of the day without saying to much on the story of a young girl whose been thrown around the foster system for way too long before wanting to become emancipated I'm just going to leave you with one final thing… Whenever possible try and catch the first episode of this truly emotional and fulfilling new show, then you'll just want more and more episodes as the story unfolds, I honestly think there's a bright future for "Life Unexpected" catch it Monday's 9/8c on The CW.

Good sound effects, story a little weak, make up your own mind
29 November 2009
Here we are again with another hand-held film edited together with supposedly found footage, the exact same way Clover field and REC were put together, well let's forget the other two films for now and just concentrate on Paranormal Activity. So we have a couple who are engaged to be engaged, the female is complaining about paranormal activity in their home and well her boyfriend is finding the whole thing funny as hell and it soon becomes clear that all he wants to do is capture some form of activity on camera. Throughout the film he pokes jokes at almost everything, even himself but his girlfriend isn't in the funny take the Mick mood and so the film slowly starts to unfold well that's until the paranormal activity begins taking nasty turns, watch the film to try and understand my review but then again also go to the cinema to laugh at the girls in the back row throwing popcorn all over the place when they burst out screaming, by the end of the film I was covered in popcorn from my girlfriend.

You will want more.....
20 November 2009
Okay, so this is the first ever time I've done a review like this but I just got a brand new I-phone which means I can review as I'm there without getting busted for having my phone in the screening room. Twilight: New Moon, so I'm there right now at a 00:05am premier on Thursday morning and the opening credits are starting to roll, it looks like it's going to be a great sequel, I shall continue…. We have the gorgeous Kristen Stewart playing the lovely Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson playing the quiet Edward Cullen but then finally let's not forget Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. So I'm going to watch the rest of the film but will continue my review when I leave the screening room…. So the film just finished and I just have to say the acting in this film compared to the acting in the first film was great, the story drags you in and makes you wonder what's going to happen next but in all it lives up to the expectations of the books. The visual effects in the film are amazing and to add to that the music has considerably been tweaked and now resembles that of a great soundtrack, some familiar songs you may just recognise. To finish this review I'm going to leave you with a simple line from Edward Cullen, oh no…. only joking I can't do that because then I'd spoil the film for you but trust me the ending will leave you wanting more!

Low budget with great scenery….
23 August 2009
The film stars Steve Zahn, Timothy Olyphant, Milla Jovovich and Kiele Sanchez in this low budget but really entertainment thriller mixed with awesome scenery and acting. I went into this movie expecting it to be a full blown slasher movie like the trailer kind of emphases on but in fact it's just more like a low budget thriller spiced up with some big stars. As the film progresses you do get a sense that things are all perfect but then things slowly start to get complicated, we start to see what's really going on but in all it's got a great story and is set on a beautiful island, anyone who is into their good thrillers then go watch this film.

Bates Motel (1987 TV Movie)

Something different
18 March 2009
As someone who really loves his horror films but will delve into other genres this film is something I went into watching with an open heart. The name never said Psycho to me or anything to do with the actual Psycho franchise but then again it doesn't need to be a part of the franchise because it's got a completely new story of its own. Let's move onto the cast, the cast is a bit of a weird line up but then again I think that's what made me continue watching it and yes it's actually got a story to it and tries to take helm from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho franchise. I know I'm not really reviewing this movie and explaining much about it and that's because I don't really know what to say, what I will say is…. If you can grab a copy of this very rare film just watch it for the way it plays out, you may just enjoy, I know I did, maybe you'll book a night at the Bates Hotel just like myself.

Role Models (2008)

These guys would make my day as my role model
25 January 2009
I went to see Role Models tonight after a hard day at work mainly because I wanted some relaxation and humour in my life, well this film worked on so many levels at giving me just that. Sean William Scott made this film what it is, he had great comedy timing when it was needed the most and the facial expressions were even better in parts. To be honest when watching this film I got the feeling I was watching an American Pie film minus loads of sex & parties, Sean's humour riminded me a lot of stifler from American pie, just image if this film had a few of his fellow co-stars in it, what then? Anyway The acting was great, the story was okay but then again Sean William Scott is known for picking good films.

Sex Drive (2008)

Sex drive, great drive
25 January 2009
I remember watching trailers for this film in late 2008, when I saw the first one I thought to myself oh great another super bad style of film-making but when I got in the cinema and took my seat the film had a totally different feel. To be honest the style of film-making used in this film reminded me of a kid's way of telling a story but then again it really helped keep you reminded that you're watching slapstick straight in your face comedy. The jokes within were just great, now I've only recently got into watching comedy films mainly because I like to stick to my horrors but this film had some amazing jokes and in your face laugh out loud moments, go and watch if you want to walk out of the cinema wanting to watch the whole film again, and when I say that I mean it.

3D is the new meaning of cinema
25 January 2009
Just got back from watching My Bloody Valentine 3D and I have to say I loved every minute of this film and when I say every minute I mean the full on 3D coming out of the screen scenes. I must state the fact now that this film doesn't really have that much of a story, it's a 3D film that just plays on the 3D of trying to tell a story and fails unfortunately. On a second note the acting is pretty good, actually it's really good, if you enjoy films literally in your face in 3D then go and watch this film, if you enjoy a deep story then don't go and see this film but then again if you enjoy gore and great special effects this is the one for you. There you go I just gave you three reasons as to why to go and see this film and only one in which not to go and see this film, what choice will you make?

Yes Man (2008)

I must say no man
20 January 2009
Okay I'm sorry about the title of my review but I must say no man to the yes man. The first half an hour does a good job setting up the film but then when we finally get to the point where the yes man film is supposed to begin by it doesn't really get going, I mean yes there are a few gimmicks that you would expect from Jim Carey but that's about it. I went to see this film thinking it would be full of the humour Jim Carey's Liar Liar was full of but it's undoubtedly lacked any funniness or when it did they didn't last for very long. So yes man I'm sorry I'm saying no man to this film, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

Twilight (I) (2008)
10/10
Unique and engaging
19 December 2008
Are you a thirteen year old girl? Are you an eighteen year old lad? Are you in your twenty's, thirty's or even forties? Why am I asking you these questions? Because every review I've read on Twilight says this film was made for every young kid in this world, well all I say to that is that is rubbish. I just got back from watching this great film and I'm a twenty two year old guy.

First of all we have Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) a pleasant young girl who moves to a new town to live with her father. Next up Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) part of a large family and well know but also with a secret that you shall find out as the film progresses. When I booked my ticket I was told the screen would be full of teenagers and that it had also been sold out all day, the cinema even had to cancel one film to accommodate a second screening of Twilight so I chose to go and watch this film during a late showing and yes it was well worth it as I was the only one in the room.

For those of you wondering this film is more of a drama slash romance not a horror but then again the romance is told is such a great way that you don't dare leave the room to nip to the toilet because it's full of great cinematography and storytelling, my advice don't go and watch this film during the day when the room will be packed, go and see it when you can watch in peace without someone talking or kicking your seat because this film deserves more glory than what most people on this site are giving it. I'm not a huge fan of romance but this film is totally different, it's unique and engaging, I'm giving it a whopping ten out of ten.

Good fantasy for all ages
13 December 2008
Went to watch this film last night, now I'm not a big fan of Brendan Fraser but I enjoyed him in this film, he plays a loving father who just wants to protect his little girl, don't worry I haven't given anything at all away about this film. The acting was very good, the story was very Walt Disney which I love when watching a fantasy film, the cast isn't full of good looking stars but at the end of the day what Fantasy films are? If you love watching your children smile when watching a film then go and see it but also if you're an adult who loves a little bit of romance then go and watch this film, you'll understand why I said that once you have.

Very disappointing…..
13 December 2008
I went to see this movie with very high hopes because Keanu Reeves was playing a starring role like he has done since the Matrix but to be honest my hopes of a good film were shattered. I'll credit the special effects, they were good, the story lacked certain explanations, the acting was good but there just weren't enough action. Let me just say when there was action it were for thirty to forty seconds then that's it, it just suddenly stops at we're back at the same old nothing happening scenario. In all I'm very sorry to say that is film isn't one I'll be buying in years to come, go and watch the original version I enjoyed that a hell of a lot more.

Good plot, could happen
5 December 2008
I went to see this movie tonight, first of all I like Samuel L Jackson, whenever you go to watch his films you expect to see a good guy but this movie will give you a different feeling on this new character. From the films trailer you can kind of see Samuel L. Jackson as been picked to play the bad and rough cop in this film. Yes the film has a few racists one liners but at the end of the day it's the fact that this kind of thing really does happen in the world so that's what makes you take this film seriously instead of nip picking at the racism. The acting in this films i great, the plot works perfectly, a great thriller, probably the best thriller this year in my eyes.

I just want to point out i'm not racist in any way at all, trust me there have been films with a lot more racism in than this but still well worth watching for a look at the world today.

A must for Kevin Smith Fans
24 November 2008
I've been a huge fan of Kevin Smith since, well since he first became known as a filmmaker with his pushing the boundaries of what's allowed to be shown on film, this film is one of those pushing the limits titles and he's done another good job. So the films about two people who are struggling for money and need to make a quick buck, we've all been there, right? I've been there and so have a lot of my friends. Zak & Miri is a great laugh out loud film because at one point there was a perfect one liner on screen and I burst out into laughter and yes the cinema was filled with 20, 30 something couples and I wasn't ashamed because I had a right to be laughing. For all you Kevin Smith fans out there he's done it again, I'm giving our good friend Kevin a ten out ten for a comedy well worth your cinema money!

Only possible with Dane Cook
24 November 2008
I just got back within the last hour of watching this movie at my local cinema and I can honestly say this movie is actually pretty dam good. I first got into watching Dane Cook when he starred in the laugh out load comedy Good Luck Chuck so yes I'll admit I haven't seen a lot of his films but after this I sure as hell with definitely go back and watch some of his older films because he's so funny and great at pulling off one liners. The film dabbles a lot in the F word and yes it gets over used but at the end of the day the films still good, still funny and if it wasn't for Dane Cook then this movie would have probably sucked. My overall review…. Go and see this movie if you enjoy watching Dane Cook because it's as good as it can be.

Scary as hell
24 November 2008
For those people who have had the pleasure of reading my movie ratings and reviews within will know that I work in film myself and when I get the time I'll head to the cinema to catch up on the latest flicks and action packed movies. Now that's out of the way lets get on with the film review. Back in the 90's I was a big fan of the Blair Witch, then recently I became a fan of Cloverfield but as of two nights ago I'm now a huge, huge fan of Quarantine, this movie along with the special effects, editing and outright brilliant setting is absolutely amazing, if you love horror films then go and watch this movie because I'm giving it a ten out ten for making me jump a great number of over fifteen plus times out of my seat.

A new action hero for the new generation of action hero fans!
17 October 2008
So Shia LaBeouf starred in Disney's Even Stevens in which he gained a very big following throughout his years on the show and now he's moved into movies such as The Transformers, Indiana Jones etc…. When I heard he was starring in yet another Steven Spielberg produced film I just had to go and see it! So it starts out like any other movie, relaxed and uncertain about what's going to happen but then our main character (Watch the film to find out) and things begin to happen. A twisting turn of events throw Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf) into a whirlwind of an adventure involving two women, phones and the government.

This is definitely a film for Shia fans and fans of action movies, in all I think Shia LaBeouf is the next action hero for the new generation.

Eden Lake (2008)
4/10
There's only one reason I'm reviewing this movie…..
17 September 2008
OK so I've been a member of IMDb.com for a while now and because I'm a filmmaker myself I normally only review movies which I thought were good or deserved a review to get more people going and watching them, I'm about to review this movie for one reason only and that's because I don't actually agree with it.

OK so the name for starters, "Eden Lake" it sounds like a pleasant name for a place, not entirely sure it makes a good name for a movie but everyone to their own. Let's move onto the movie itself…. I went to see this movie thinking I'm going to see yet another horror movie about teenagers being stalked by a group of serial killers but in fact while watching the images being thrown in my face they're too close for comfort! Apart from the film being too close to comfort the film in a way also touches on one racist act of terror which I don't think should have been in the film especially in the way it was portrayed! In my opinion I honestly don't think this film should go to DVD mainly because it comes across as if it's OK for teenagers/gangs to attack innocent people, and after all the knife crime and random killings currently sweeping the United Kingdom it would of at least been in the interest of the families who have lost family members over the past few weeks that this film should have been held back or not even made in the first place.

I'm sorry for the negative review but I honestly can't think of any other way to talk about this film other than I don't agree with it and the filmmakers have gone a little too far this time round.

Street Kings (2008)

A film that deserves your hard earned cash!
22 April 2008
OK I just got back from watching Street kings, the film isn't your basic cops and robber's kind of movie, it's got a very deep story which makes you use your brains to try and work out exactly what's going on. In the first few minutes of the film we get to know our main character Detective Tom Ludlow (Keanu Reaves) I won't say how this is portrayed but its very good indeed and we get to see some great gun handling. Once we have settled down and gotten to know Ludlow we are then introduced to his boss Captain Jack Wander (Forest Whitaker) He comes across as a good guy, I think I'll stop while I'm ahead and let you figure the film out on your own.

Go and watch Street Kings it's a thrill ride, full of effects and off the wall gun fights, well worth your money. Great film 10/10!

The best movie of the 21st century.
21 October 2006
What can I say about this movie? There is only one thing I can say.... This movie is definitely the best movie of the 21st Century maybe even the best movie that's ever been released by Hollywood. There is action, action & even more action and it never stops. The story is amazing, it is a film I would watch over and over again without hesitation, I think I'll talk about the acting roles in this film because that's the best way to summarise it for all you movie goers out there.

Kevin Costner: When the academy awards arrive he will receive best leading actor for this movie because he was amazing and really made this movie what it is.

Ashton Kutcher: When the academy awards arrive Ashton will receive best supporting actor without a doubt, he was great & this movie will definitely be a real career maker, I want to see him in a lot more movies as the years go by.

I better stop talking because if I don't I could talk about this movie all year because you know something.... I'm going to see this film again & again & once more for good luck, go see this movie and enjoy it for what it really is, it's definitely going to be a classic

A Piece Of Cinema Art
30 September 2006
What can I say about the world trade centre movie….? First of all this movie is a piece of art! I'm a film maker myself and movies like this are what really inspire me to want to work in the media industry with such great actors, talking of actors let's talk a little about the two actors that helped to drive this story forward and feel exactly how the people who's story was told throughout the movie would have felt on the day America saw evil.

Nicolas Cage: Great actor and if someone else had played the part of John McLoughlin I really don't think that this movie would be the same without him! Michael Pena: He played the part of Will Jameno like a true actor should play their role when starring in a movie of this kind, great job, great performance! I can promise you from this day forward a movie of this kind only ever comes years and years apart, it's going to take years until this movie is forgotten, it's just wonderful and while watching this movie in the great surround sound environment at the cinema I really felt like I was in the movie myself because it's just so moving and unforgettable. If I went to the cinema tomorrow night to see this movie and the people behind the counter told me that it was sold out I would definitely pay £50 to just get into the screening room! And when I say into the screening room I honestly mean I wouldn't mind standing up the whole way through because at least I got to see a movie that is worth paying to see! To everyone that's reading this I tell you to go and watch this movie while you still can because it's made to be watched on the big screen, go and watch and feel what I felt while watching this movie.
